Pam, thanks so much for sharing this. I've dreamed of seeing Anne's garden. It is even more beautiful than I've imagined.

Anne opened up a world of possibilities for me at the 2005 El Cerrito HRF conference, when she scoffed at the idea that a garden can be too small for a rambler - she said that any garden had room to go up! Based on that, I've put in tripods and planted along fences, but can see from Carolyn's photos that I can do much more. Thanks so much to Carolyn for taking these photos and posting them on such a beautiful site (if only the photos didn't whip by so fast - have to figure out how to slow down the slide show)!

Anne's brought a number of rare Barbier roses into this country - what beauties they are.

Oh Pam, another place that is surrounded by love, grace and beauty.

Seattle Sue made sure that I got to see the Belovitch's place when I visted in August. It was love at first sight. Max and Anne use to raise Mals, a close relative to my beloved Siberians. And Anne is very active in dog rescue and founded and is still involved in a local group. With that as a foundation, how could I not fall in love.

Anne and Max are a wonderful couple. Max builds the structures for the roses. And there are many. Anne has been around the world collecting ramblers and her garden showcases her finds. On their property is an old log cabin, that was moved there a few years ago. Max has been restoring it. So along with the old roses is this wonderful sense of American history. The old and the old.

Carolyn's pictures have caught the love and respect that goes into caring and growing that Anne and Max provide.

I can't wait to go back in the late spring to see the flush!

So very beautiful! I have met Anne at garden events, but don't really know her and have never seen her garden. It is just completely lovely. Roses that go up into the air and form a wall fascinate me, and it is a joy to see this beautiful collection.

Perhaps one day if I am very good and eat all the vegetables on my plate I'll be lucky enough to see it in real life.

Any one who happens to be visiting the PNW should do themselves a favor and try to get to see this wonderful garden. The gorgeous Pictures here show only a small part of what there is to see. Anne is the most gracious hostess and loves to show off her garden. Max is just an amazing man who loves for Anne to have a garden to show off. Those of us who live near by get to go to Work-days where we get to help with the pruning and weeding, eat fabulous food and share Rose lore. I have been the one of the fortunate pruners of the Barbier Pergolas the past couple of springs. It is always a wonder experience that we invite others to share-contact Seattlesue.

What a lovely person this must be to have such a wonderful legacy to leave for generations. It is certainly very charming and makes me want to see it, to soak it up but moreover I am impressed with what she has accomplished through the decades. I will bet she could write her own biography, Pam, or does she just allow her works to tell her story so well.

Beautiful roses, friendly gardeners, dogs, bunnies - what's not to love? I'm on my way lol. Maybe I could take up residence in the log cabin for a week or two while Anne tutors me on roses. What a joy that would be.
Now I have to go back and write down the names so I can check for hardiness in my zone.
BTW those are the most gorgeous arrangements! Did Anne create the arragements or Carolyn?

Gorgeous photos of a most beautiful garden. Every moment I spend there is like a visit to paradise. Anne will be thrilled to know her garden is featured (thanks, Pam and Carolyn!). I spoke to her this morning just before she left for the vet's(her Afghan hound, Hercules, is very ill) so there wasn't time to tell her about the thread but I'll make sure to let her know. I just had an email message from Anne. She was finally able to check in today and saw the photos and posts from everyone. She and Max were so delighted. She asked me to tell all of you thank you for your warm comments and said the thread really lifted their spirits. Herkie was diagnosed with lymphoma and they're having a difficult time, as you might imagine. They're such kind and loving people. Keep them in your hearts.

Thank you for posting the cite. I had the pleasure of meeting Anne Belovitch at the recent Petaluma Conference and thanking her for the incredible ramblers she contributed (via Vintage) for the 2007 VCRS auction. The pix are an inspiration to those of us who are space challenged and I have a little Le Fraicheur creeping out of pot for someplace on the tiny plot I call a garden.

Anne if you see this, I just wanted to let you know that Michael and I are sorry that Hercules is ill and we're thinking of you. We were so glad to see you in Petaluma.

My dh and two friends had the pleasure of meeting Anne and Max this spring. We spent a Sunday helping them in their garden. They are two of the warmest, most generous people with a great sense of humor. The garden is incredible with the soaring giants rambling through mature trees and enveloping the fences. Anne was kind enough to share cuttings and being a novice at rooting, I still managed to root some. The garden is a lot of work for them and they are most grateful for any help that is offered.

While getting directions from Anne she warned us they had several dogs and so I came armed with doggy treats. Hercules would follow and smell out my pockets looking for more. He's a wonderful dog. Sorry to hear he's ill and hoping for the best.

This is a garden I totally admire, structured and planned beautifully, a gorgeous setting, and wonderful huge roses to give it life and incredible beauty. The color combinations are subtle and wonderful, nothing jars or takes away from the trees and the country setting. There are no extraneous details; it is elegant and yet so natural. This couple has created a paradise and what a pleasure it was to see it. The flower arrangements are exquisite; rarely have I seen anything to equal them. Thank you so much for sharing this vision of beauty with us.
