You and I are in the same boat. I really am ready to SP this one. I am taking her home to see if that makes a difference, but she has two canes and about 8 leaves, bloomed 3-4 times this year whereas my EDI and CDM are HUGE and covered in blooms even without spraying.......this is one I am not happy with. I bought it based on everyone raving but am SORELY dissapointed.

Our Illinois sun is scorching hot. With hayfever I don't spend much time outdoor, and prefer my roses as cut-flowers indoor.

I am considering Julia Child for next year. I wonder if she makes good fragrant cut-flower? Does she like clay soil, hot sun, and rainy weather? Thanks.

I've been very please with my Julia Child. Yes, it did get a little black spot but not much. Just some leaves at the very bottom. And it's bloomed non-stop!

Just to clarify...my Julia Child had bloomed continuously until the black spot got the best of it. Even now with few leaves it still has blossoms that are trying to open. I love the color and the shape of the Julia Child flowers so I will probably give it another year before I pull it. What other yellow floribundas are disease resistant in NJ?

Stems are too short.

I understand that it needs very good air circulation and lots of daily sunshine.

I bought one in a pot and had it in a sunny area. It was fine and bloomed a lot. Very pretty.

Then I put it in the ground next to a fence with less sun time. Blackspot! (And we barely get any real blackspot in this area.)

I live in Central Illinois, my Julia Child is a first year plant. I haven't seen any bs yet. Of course It's been scorching hot and we haven't had any rain. I do spray, so when it cools down It will be protected. I'm not sure of the mature size of the plant as mine is less than a foot tall now.

Ah, Julia. It is like Iceberg here. It is disease resistant for some people and not for others. It wasn't for me, but it was a pretty thing. Not a great fragrance, not good as a cut flower.

Sunsprite is another that is sometimes resistant. You might try one of the "Fairy Tale" series from Kordes, the two that I have are totally clean and have not been treated for blackspot all season. Golden Fairy Tale looks nice.

I have Jeri Jennings and to me its about the same color but smaller and always seems to have blooms. She has the prettiest little clusters from pale to dark yellow. Seems to last forever on the bush and in a vase. Check her out on HMF and you will fall in love. I love it much more than my Julia. In Julias defense though, shes in a bad spot and first to get hit by the deer this summer. grrr.... Judy

Carefree Sunshine, I always forget about this one. Not as full of a bloom as JC, but disease resistant and excellent rebloom.

I've got Julia Child, Sunsprite, and Anthony Meilland for disease resistant yellow floribundas and I have to say that Julia is my favorite, in my garden and my opinion she has the best color, the most blooms, and the healthiest leaves. Sunprite and Anthony are both good roses too, Anthony blooms more but Sunsprite definitely has the best fragrance.

I live in BS heaven. I do get some bs but I spray. However regarding a cut flower. I cut the entire spray and they are lovely and nicely scented bouquets.

I have had JC for aboyt 3 years in a terible spot. Not wonderful sun or air circualtion. She bloooms gangbusters and comes back every year. Longer stems because she strains for sunlight. Go figure. Now, if I could only get Pope JP2 to perform.
