My experience with replacement roses where a RRD infected bush was removed is I plant another bush ASAP with no adverse results. I've never had a replacement bush get the disease. That's not to say it can't happen but I think it would be the result of a new infection, not from anything carried over from the previous bush.
For another yellow you could try Autumn Sunset. It's hardy and repeats well.
I like Viking Queen and Compassion for deeper pinks and New Dawn or Clair Matin for lighter pinks. All repeat well.

Is it possible for rose bushes to build up a resistance to Rose Rosette? Is that why a rose planted in the same spot that previously had an infected rose doesn't get Rose Rosette? Since they have banned Cygon and took it off the market, is there any product that we can use to kill the Rose Rosette mite? Will Avid work?

If you had to replace 5 at the same time, I suggest that you consider whether it could of been Round-Up damage instead of RRD.

I think Clair Matin is a little more mannerly the the others --at least in my garden but she does repeat nicely.

I will offer a word or two of caution about immediately replanting. If there is any of the old root stock left in the ground and it sprouts and has the virus, you may likely re-infest your new plantings. Dr. Huey rootstock in particular has long deep tap roots and it often is difficult to get all the roots out at the first digging. I've had RRD many times, and I can say from experience that it's better to wait a full growing season just to see if anything comes up from the old roots. In my case there was still some old root left down deep and it did sprout. I killed it with round-up and waited another growing season to see if anything else came up. Yes, in that case it was 2 full years before I would plant a new rose. With RRD it's better to be safe then sorry.

You have my sympathies with RRD! Been there. (Actually, more accurately: being there right now...)

#1. I recently had to find the answer to question #1 for myself. The answer I received indicated that 99.99% of the time, one year is long enough to wait for replanting in the same spot as far as coming down with RRD again goes, because if the infected rose is going to regenerate from its infected roots, it will almost surely do so within a year. If it does regenerate from its infected roots, of course, any mites in the area would have the capability of passing the infection to the newly planted rose. You don't necessarily have to wait a year, but you are taking a greater risk if you don't wait that long. I'm going to wait a year.

#2. I'm not sure about the answer to #2, except that I know the answer is unrelated to Rose Rosette Disease. The potential reason to avoid using the same hole would be a concern for Rose Replant Disease, which sometimes (or maybe even frequently) does occur in England. I don't know whether it happens on this continent or not, or if it does happen whether it happens frequently enough to worry about. If it were actually sometimes a problem here too, two years would be long enough to wait on replanting in the very same hole. But along a fence, you probably could just easily move the new hole over a bit anyway, right?

#3. My Cornelia Hybrid Musk, before succumbing to RRD, liked to throw out extremly long canes that were beautifully flexible and had a zillion little stems with buds on them. So I think Cornelia would be nice on a fence, and it's as beautiful a rose as you can imagine. It's also likely to have fewer disease issues than Golden Showers for most people. (However, it appears that you were quite lucky with Golden Showers there, so maybe you might want to think "Don't fix what ain't broke!")

Lots of Hybrid Musks might work. Some: Wilhelm, Prosperity, Bubble Bath, Lavender Lassie. Some other possibilities (that I don't have experience with, but have seen recommended by others): Felix Leclerc, Soaring Spirits, Goldfinch, Rosarium Uetersen (Seminole Wind), Abraham Darby. I do have (a new) Climbing Iceberg and that might work well for you, even though it can get blackspot. New Dawn is supposed to be easy to grow, though it does have more thorns than some other choices. Mortimer Sackler ought to work well, as long as you don't count on too much distance (lovely, fragrant, low thorns, healthy). I have never heard of rosette mite but I am wondering why my Autumnn Sunset and Polka climbing roses died this winter, when they have bloomed beautifully about 7 foot high for over 3 years. All my other roses made it through the winter, and I covered all of them. Any ideas why I lost these two large and well established climbers? So sad about this. Thanks.
