Yes, I like it---a tall bush with big flowers that add a lot of color. It's so healthy that it recovered from an absolutely botched transplant job--the root ball was destroyed--and is turning out the flushes like it never happened.

I highly recommend Earth Song. It's been a consistent great performer in my no-spray garden for 5 years. I've heard it described as a grandiflora and essentially an improved version of Queen Elizabeth - no blackspot and a more intense pink shade. Althouth tall, mine is also becoming fairly wide rather than the tall & fairly narrow habit associated with many grandifloras. Aunt Honey, another Buck rose, has a more typical grandiflora-type habit in my garden and I find its medium pink color closer to Queen Elizabeth although the blooms are smaller and its disease resistance not as good as Earth Song.

I think this rose is beautiful. I took this picture earlier in the year, and the rose is much larger now.

Like vic007, I have found Earth Song to be a wonderful, healthy pink grandiflora that grows a bit more like a shrub (in terms of width) rather than the usual grandiflora shape.

I also sing the praises of this rose. It is hardy and vigorous. Mine is an own root from Heirloom. The bush is about 6' tall and almost as wide now in its fourth season. It blooms constantly and has a unique bloom form.

Mine has been outstanding. It's only two years old, but it established very quickly. Dies back to the mulch line here in the frozen Northland, but recovers beautifully and is now about 3 1/2'. It blooms a ton, and the flowers are very large and eye catching. Excellent disease resistance in full sun. Highly recommended. Mine is own-root from Moores Roses.com. All the plants I've purchased there have thrived.

Hello Deanna, you need this rose.

Mine came about 5 years ago from Sequoia Nursery as a pencil stick own root. After planted, this stick grew 3x3 in 1 season, and now I am trimming to be about 5Hx3W. Very fast blooming cycle, the bloom is nice HT form, good for cutting, and no BS in my non-spray garden. This rose is very reliable.

The only thing ES miss is the fragrance. As you may be aware, people's nose is very different per nose, and my nose can not detect any scent from ES. FYI, I can not smell Tea rose.

If I am to make my yard all over again, I will definately get ES.

Earth Song is one of the best of all roses for my climate.

Yes very fragrant. It has a sweet fragrance, underlain with a an earthy pungency. malmason, it could be your nose, but it could also be your weather. I'd keep sniffing it if I were you. I bet one of these times it will smell for you.

I don't really have anything to add to what has already been said. It is not reliably cane hardy for me. It performs better than any other die back rose I have. Disease resistance it excellent. It is very floriferous. The flowers are a good strong pink. It's a good rose.

Ditto what everyone said. While youÂre at it, look into Rainbow Sorbet too. RS has got good genes from Earth Song. Reblooming and disease resistance are excellent in my garden.

Love this rose. Tall, blooms like crazy, and no BS. I even had some apricot sports this year, and yes, the sports are already rooted and waiting for that first bloom. Should be any day now.

And by the way, my nose picks up no fragrance, but that is nothing new.

Thank you! Earth Song sounds like a MUST HAVE. I'm also considering Aunt Honey, and due to Mike's recommendation, I might have to squeeze in Quietness too. :-) And, Roseleaf, I've got Rainbow Sorbet planned for another bed too. :-)

And also - I like that some of you made some nursery recommendations. That's very helpful.

Next spring is going to be year of the roses for me! I lost several this spring in a late freeze, so now I have an excuse to buy more! But I'm being very choosy, so I'm doing my homework.

Deanna, Aunt Honey is huge and very pretty. Similar to Vic007Âs experience, mine is not as BS resistant as Earth Song. The pic below shows her best (5X4) during the spring flush. In humid summer, leaves will drop from spot diseases (not sprayed), but she shakes it off, grows new set of leaves and buds. However, my climate is very different from MO, hopefully Aunt Honey may turn out to be healthier for you

My Earthsong started as a sickly little thing with yellow leaves from Sam Kedem. It grew vigorously while the other Kedem roses expired. Vigorous, hardy, lots of blooms, but no fragrance to speak of. I got rid of Aunt Honey and Wanderin' Wind because they were boring. Quietness has very full blooms and occasional mild fragrance. It is also vigorous. I am starting to appreciate the vigorous quality as many of my roses have died.

You're the one who recommended Aunt Honey to me. When and why did it become boring?

My Aunt Honey is a trouper, perfectly healthy and always in bloom. However I may be the only person for whom Quietness is a dud. It's planted right next to A. Honey but a real rust bucket with few decent blooms.

Deanna, itÂs the faithful Knock Out. I also have the double KO and pink KOs with similar color as Earth SongÂs.

If you like red, you need GriffÂs Red. This beautiful dark red Buck is another stellar performer like Earth Song in my garden. GR may get some BS when young, but disease resistance improves vastly as it matures. GR tends to grow tall and narrower than ES. I got enabled into this one by Terry and Tamara.

BTW, since you planned to get Rainbow Sorbet next spring, Golden Princess would also be a nice companion :)

Predfern, for a long time, I havenÂt ordered from Sam Kedem, where my Aunt Honey came from. It was a puny twig too. For some reasons I always forget to spray AH with some left over from the organic solution I use for the HTs and DAs until I realize she becomes bared legs.

I'll have to post a picture, but Roseleaf is right. Last year mine was about 7 feet tall and very narrow. One of these days I am going to post my experience with all of my "Buck" roses. Buckred is also nice, though a little smaller. It seems to have more fragrance than Giff's Red, but my nose is not the best.

Deanna, it would be nice if Mgleason or anyone can post a pic for you now. I havenÂt taken a pic of GriffÂs Red. Mine has done a major blooming; there are spent blooms but still a handful of buds yet to open, so I will try to take some photos this weekend. The mature bush size I saw was about 6X3. Mine started out as a twig and is now more than 2 years old at 3 ft and quite narrow at just over 1 ft. There is lot more top growths and it needs to put out more basals, and I hope it will after I just dumped some alfalfa on it. IÂm sure it will put more size by the end of the season.

Mgleason, I heard that you have quite a collection of Bucks, so do tell us about them, perhaps in a new thread. I can always add some more.

I put a link of the photos from HMF. The color I see in my garden is darker rich red than the ones shown on HMF when they first open, but the blooms will eventually fade to that color.
