I wish someone would answer your question! It's been sitting unanswered. I can only say I've seen 'Janet' here in So Cal and it was a short, shrubby bush, lacking the long arching canes suitable for use as a short climber. Based only on comments I've read, have a look at 'Crocus Rose' which is supposed to be both large and a good repeater. I've had experience with 'Scepter'd Isle', which formed a big arching shrub here. But hopefully someone in the PNW will chime in on 'Janet'!

Grrrr--I just wiped out the next 10 pics. Here goes again! Most of these are multiples of my hybrid musks--except Jeri Jennings who is still in bud. Felicia--I'm really loving this one --and the play of pastel pink and yellow on its blooms. Half opened bud here. Felicia bloom--still fairly neat. Felicia bloom--getting more slovenly lovely. There she is--Felicia at her slovenly best. Isn't she charming! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buff Beauty--the apricot shades are coming on rather strong in these pics. Often the blooms are more buff colored. Certainly more shapely than Felicia's blooms. Buff Beauty--second view ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ghislaine de Feligonde has been growing strong and climbing good for the past year, but putting out very few blooms. Somewhat stronger show this spring, but I hope even more blooms appear as she matures. This bloom is coming out a bit too pink in my camera, for some reason. From Horticulture Week, 1-29-2020: David Austin Roses consolidates range David Austin, has cut its range by 30%. …no longer available: 'Munstead Wood', 'Lady Emma Hamilton', 'Abraham Darby', 'William Shakespeare', 'Elsie Braithwaite', 'Alan Titchmarsh' and others. …Numbers of varieties available are now 86, down 30%, with more old varieties set to be dropped. 'Gertrude Jekyll' remains a top seller and will continue to be sold. David Austin Roses' Kate Porter said: "We've made some significant changes to the range for the good of the customer. Some of the well-known varieties we are withdrawing from the range. What was wonderful 20 years ago, standards have changed and we've improved breeding standards." David Austin's Paul Manley recommends new varieties such as 'Olivia Rose Austin'. *Emphasis and a grain of salt are mine.

Rosylady, I'm so sorry that your question didn't register in my sometimes foggy brain. I didn't have Janet long enough to prune it or even to realize that it had that spreading habit. However, Bishop's Castle is rather similar in that way, and rather than letting it spread I've kept it fairly tidy by keeping the branches short. I would cut flowers for inside by cutting down fairly deeply into the bush, and the same after the flowers were spent that stayed on the bush. It doesn't seem to hurt the plant and I don't like the bush to spread down near the ground since the rats and bunnies will eat that part.
