I wish someone would answer your question! It's been sitting unanswered. I can only say I've seen 'Janet' here in So Cal and it was a short, shrubby bush, lacking the long arching canes suitable for use as a short climber.

Based only on comments I've read, have a look at 'Crocus Rose' which is supposed to be both large and a good repeater. I've had experience with 'Scepter'd Isle', which formed a big arching shrub here.

But hopefully someone in the PNW will chime in on 'Janet'!

I wonder if 'Scepter'd Isle' could serve the same purpose here, it looks very pretty. Do you have any recommendations for something that could cover a six-foot fence?

Maybe 'Crown Princess Margareta' or 'Golden Celebration'. I don't grow any of my Austins as climbers, only as large shrubs. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Benjamin Britton could be used as a free standing bush. Mine is quite healthy and reaches six feet tall without support. It also has a good repeat regardless if you deadhead or not.

In my experience most Austin roses introduced since Jude the Obscure are fairly to very disease resistant here. BTW Jude will make a fine six footer and is very disease resistant.

Graham Thomas is great on a tall fence - really easy to prune to a good framework and is my best repeating Austin by a country mile, even with not very efficient deadheading - in fact, it would probably still go like a train without any deadheading. Lovely spring foliage too. Might clash with the Generous Gardener though.
