Post your Austins...pic heavy
Comments (86)Positively breathtaking... every picture! I have a question for you all... which of the Austins are the hardiest? I'm in zone 5b, but we occasionally get some really frigid winters. I've played it safe choosing roses rated for zone 4, and they are lovely... but the English roses are just too beautiful! Which do you think stand the greatest chance of survival in the colder zones? Thanks in advance!...See MoreAny Pa Rose Growers Here? which OGRs and Austins are your Favs?
Comments (4)What part of PA, please? If in the SE part of the state, I recommend a trip over to the Moorestown Mall (Moorestown, NJ) this Saturday for the West Jersey Rose Society's rose show (the Philadelphia show was yesterday). Many of the SE PA/NJ rose growers will be there, you'll get to see a lot of the once-blooming OGRs (in addition to a lot of the modern shrubs) and quite a few are now growing without synthetic chemicals. I can recommend Marchesa Boccella, Rose de Recht, Cardinal de Richelieu and Lyda Rose. Polyanthas also do very well....See MorePost up photos of your David Austin roses
Comments (161)An Austin rose that you don’t see or hear about much is The Shepherdess, which was the best looking Austin rose in the public rose garden yesterday (untended and possibly not irrigated since shelter-in-place)....See MoreBest David Austin’s?
Comments (64)Since this is a new rose bed that I started last year, do you think I should focus on only purchasing the bigger bushes that will go in the back (I want a full lush David Austin, English garden look) unless I see something I can’t resist, or just buy what I love and place smaller in front and hope I’ve left space accordingly? I hate to have to move them around. Also, regarding companion planting, do I wait till I get most of my roses in place? Although those can be easily moved in winter...See Morejessbell1_zn7westtx
