Sore Feet

This past week was peak time here so I was at The Brooklyn Botanical Cranford Gardens on Wed and Saturday and The Peggy Rockefeller continuing rennovation at the NY Botanical Sunday. Wed was foggy misty perfect for photos. Sad so many signs have disappeared over the years at Brooklyn and in The Bronx you have great signage meticulous grooming but a number of favorite old roses have disappeared well maybe they'll come back.

Wow you were right about the light being perfect. Of course it doesn't hurt that you are such a good photographer. The roses are beautiful. You must have had a great time.

We went with Ultra Poz because we wanted a more traditional looking pool. I don't like the pebble finishes. The water looks good but I don't like how it looks when you are looking at the actual finish. Ultra-Poz is made by Applied Materials Technologies. The address and phone # I have for them is in Phoenix. They have "a 7 yr. warranty on the entire composition" not just the quartz (taken from their brochure). I was told different information that houseful was though. The brochure I have only has 3 colors: white, sapphire, and emerald. I asked if we could add more of the sapphire crystals so there was more blue and we were told no, that Ultra-Poz is not like 3M, it is pre-mixed so no changes could be made. We were told about Ultra Poz by Blue Wave Pools. When we decided to do o/b we looked into other finishes. From everything I could find to read, Ultra Poz seemed to have more stuff in it to make it last longer than other quartz surfaces so that is why we picked it over 3M. I know 3 other people who have it and they all like it. My pool seems to be a different color than theirs though, a little more aqua and theirs a little more blue. I like it though. I like to look at it when their is a slight breeze and it is nice and sunny out. The water just seems to sparkle. Another thing that helped in our decision making was that we found it to be less splotchy than 3M, at least in the pools we looked at. If you have any more questions just ask. Like I said, we used Swimming Pool Service and Repair. I never would have thought to get a bid from them because of their name, but they were recommended to us. They were great to work with. They do do other finishes too. A close up. Ignore the dirt. Our in-floor cleaning system wasn't working at the time.

I also had a day which I am sure I won't forget. My family was together for the first time in quite a while and I was feeling so content. Almost finished with dinner when oldest daughter took offense at something my middle daughter said in jest and certainly not maliciously. Oldest daughter said very loudly that we all come and eat her food that she has prepared and then criticize her and the way she lives. She said if we don't like the way she is we can just stay home. We all sat in shock including her husband. He kept saying that we were just having fun and honestly and truly there was nothing mean or disrespectful said. She ended up leaving the table and when I tried to approach her she told me to leave her alone. We have had so much sadness and difficult times in the last few years and this seemed to be a special holiday. I just don't even know what to say to her and we are supposed to be going out of town tomorrow (me and her family). I am really heartbroken and I think this may cause a permanent split in the family. I never in a million years would have expected this from her and Im very sad. Caroline, I am so sorry-didn't mean to hijack your post. Theres always somthing to see even if the roses are past peak on June 14. Better to walk and explore than to take the tram. 250 acres is a bit daunting but worth it even on the worst winter day the conservatory and Louesther T Mertz Library are gems and a great resource.

I knew when I saw all those hundreds of buds that there would be a glorious display! Your photo's are wonderful and I agree, there is always something to look at even if the roses aren't blooming. I also agree about the sore feet, I think we walked the majority of those 250 acres :-)

Oh Carol I let you off easy we only did about 240 acres heres another shot of the waretown mystery or so the sign said thats what it is. Interesting red stems

Wareton Mystery looks tea-like in foliage and peduncle, but European OGR in flower form and color. I wonder if it repeats. Gorgeous.

I see you're using a Canon EOS 350D. Are you manually setting it or is it point & shoot?

Your photo of Zeffy is right on in color from what I remember.

I'm looking at Nikons because that's what I've had luck with but which one I don't know.
I purchased a Canon S3 IS a few years ago & took it back due to the color sucking. After I returned it, Canon came out with a whole new line

Theres no repeat on that rose I thought the foliage reminded me of some chinas. I only shoot manually and take about 7 to 8 shots for each angle on a rose and vary the settings so I end up with a day of about 400 shots easily and throw most away.
