I can't wait to see what this garden will look like this year. It was started in 2007, and last year I planted some Digitalis (Foxgloves), Eupatorium (Joe Pye Weed), Buddleias (Butterfly Bush), Asclepias (Butterfly Weed), etc. The plant in the middle is a new Inula which I bought so it will be the only purchased plant in this area.

I plan to clear off more of this area of the property to cater to the butterflies and small birds in the coming years. Should be good! :O)

I know exactly how you feel! I've done this for years, but I still can hardly bear the waiting. The only way to comfort myself is to keep sowing! Fortunately, I got smart several years ago and just automatically plan a week of vacation in mid-May to spend planting out. I just hope the weather cooperates.

Sounds like a bad case of spring fever to me. Yesterday was really nice and I got to work out in the yard for awhile but there was a little snow on the ground this morning when I woke up and it's going to stay in the lower 30's today. What a bummer for a Saturday.

Our Lawn and Garden Show is this weekend in Springfield so I will have to get my garden fix that way. Are you too far away to go to that? There will be a few green things, but not a lot since it's still February. Probably something closer coming up in your area soon. You can watch the Ozarks Forum for garden events if you're in the Ozarks area or maybe you would have some to post.

tiffy, i love the edging too. we had some serious tree damage from the ice storm, but i've all ready cut them up into fire logs. i have so many beds to get together to, and and that would have been a perfect and easy solution. oh well it'll all come together.

I have so many plans swimming around in my head for next season it gets tiring! I'd love to share some of my gardens w/ u all but have not sat down and learned to post a pic yet! My favorite is an alpine or succulent garden right in front of house. It gets hot hot full sun. I was amazed at how many plants I could grow here. Wish that one was bigger but can't expand it.

Last year I decided to turn "my" main garden into a bf & hummer garden. Walking around it last year I noticed something had eaten down some of my first year bf weed. Well I just about pitched a fit! Then I found the cat or kat and said oh ya that's why I planted that stuff!! LOL I did raise it fascinating huh? Think I'll do another like yours Tiffy I recieved tons of seeds from SASBE from Caterwalin (thank you!) for bf gardening think I'll fill the whole spot up w/ all those plants. Wonder how many cats I can find this year? I also love the edging in your photo Tiff as one brother says "free is for me" ha ha

Your garden bed is really pretty with that edging. I really like it too, so natural looking.

Anyone know the name of the flower in Christie's first pic? I would like to grow some of those for my monarchs.

This is a new bed i started in the fall,i transplanted a lot of hosta,and this is where the majority of my new WSing babies will be going.I have a spot out back for all my "hot" colores,i too,am getting excited,Really,Really excited,pretty much every thing was transplanted to tis area,i had cardboard down to kill the grass,i need to add some more,whind took some of it,hubby brought me home a lot from work this winter,so i will be adding it as soon as this darn snow is gone.

Irish Rose Grower - The flower in the first photo I posted is tithonia but I can't remember which one. They do a pretty good job at attracting butterflies and even hummingbirds. I'm hoping I get some volunteers because I forgot to collect seeds. If the birds didn't eat them all, I should get a few.

Teacherashley - You are doing this as a school project right? How about an update. Do the kids seem pretty interested? I have two teen daughters and I think they appreciate any break in the monotony of using a pencil and paper all day at school. I appreciate teachers very much that try to make things interesting for the kids. It has such a big affect on their attitude.
