I'm getting excited!!

I'm finally starting to see scapes on my old plantings. I hope I get to see them bloom before I have to move them.

Here's a couple planted this spring that I am stoked about!

Pacific Coast's FFO popped right open like this, so it is one of the ones that doesn't need the heat to have the edge. Love it! (On a side note, the Ruby Border's 2nd bloom opened a lot better with the edge. I'm wondering if it is more of an establishment thing. I'll report back on that one after it blooms more).

2nd flower on Cosenza. Hope the watermark gets better with the next couple of blooms. LOVE the color, stands out from across the yard. Instead of the white paper trick, I busted out the umbrella.

And Walking In Beauty is not veiny, YEAH!

Gorgeous pinks!
They seem to have acclimated well. Couldn't decide which one to choose, all are very pretty.
Cosenza's is one the best pinks I have seen.

Good morning Joe and Martin. Joe things have finally started drying out and warming up. As soon as your tree wakes up, just to make sure it does, I'll get it in the mail to you. Have you done any fishing yet. I'm a little late in starting but hope to get in at least a trip a week for the next few. Martin, yes I plan to put a few of them in the ground this year. I'm trying to decide which ones. I know a Martin's Unknown is going in for sure. I think I'll also put in one of the two Richard's Unknown which are suppose to be ever bearing. I have room for about 10 if I keep them properly pruned. I own some property down in the country that I might plant some of my extras at. They will be in danger of flooding if a hurricane comes our way so I'll will only plant those of which I have extras. Some will go to friends and some I'll try to make a deal with people to let me plant them a tree and have the right to visit it during fig season. I will keep some in pots for this year at least while I decide what to do with them. I'm hoping to buy some property to plant them on. "gene"

jll...thanks for the appreciation! It was pretty easy to construct...I used 1.5" pvc and connectors...I anchored them to the sides of the bed using 1.5" metal straps as you can see in this picture: > I put in side cross braces to keep the inverted "U" pieces from being pulled off center but mistakenly put in a top cross brace as well (not needed and the weight of the tomatoes bent the pvc pieces at the joints)...this year I'm going to put in straight, uncut pieces up top and brace them with 14" long "L" shelf brackets...I painted the pieces with spray paint made for plastic surfaces and it took about 2.5 cans... And yes I did string-up method and used the cleats to easily tighten and release the strings...one product that I really used and liked were these stem clips: > You can get a pack of 10 for $0.95 at the link below or any hydroponic supply place...they really work well and don't damage the stems too much though I suppose that one could wrap foam cloth around the stem first before applying the clip... Yes DivalnTheGarden, everything is moveable. In fact, I'm going to rearrange it in the spring. The swing set just picks up and moves (with help). The pole bean trellises have metal stakes that I just pull out of the ground and hammer them in somewhere else and then push the piping into the ground next to the metal stakes and use a couple bungees to hold them together. It's pretty easy to move everything. And I use concrete reinforcing wire for everything to grow up in the trellises and also have cages made out of that wire for the tomatoes. I leave everything out over winter too.........not a problem.

I know you're probably wondering why I'm so excited, this is my 1st season with dls so you are going to see me get excited quite a bit.

Update for the end of day on those. Pacific Coast went so white in the center I could barely believe it. That pic was taken at 7:30am & by 5pm is was as white as a ghost. Very impressed w/ FFO compared to others I've been experiencing.

As far as the edge no eye goes, I have a bloom on Ruby Border this morning which is 3/4 open & looking like the border is a lot more prevalent. In a few hrs it should be completely open & can say more. I don't want to steer people wrong about my other post so that is why I'm mentioning it. That is also why Walking In Beaty got tagged on, I just wanted people to know that it isn't veiny afterall.

The watermark on Cosenza didn't show up later in the day, we'll see what the 3rd bloom does. Yesterday we had a high of 81 & it only faded just a bit by 5pm. There was a pic posted of this cultivar earlier in the season & can't remember who posted it. If you saw that pic, you would love it 10x's more!

Beautiful daylilies, I don't remember seeing Pacific Coast before & I love those edges. Cosenza is a beautiful color, I'm anxious to see more pictures of that one. Wonderful picture of WIG too.
