I'm starting to get excited.....

...because spring is not far away. My fig trees are starting to grow figs and leaves, my mulberry tree is loaded with mulberries and my garden is tilled. Also the fish are starting to bite and it only gets better from here.

My new batch that's ready to move outside.

Crappie?

Very cool gene. Our fishing isn't real good, but, things are warming up and begining to grow here too. I love this time of year.

Your planting area looks sweet. I sure do envy you your soil. Mine is full of rocks.

It sure doesn't get any better than this.
Spring is just around the corner.

I little curry powder ( be sure to use India imported ) dabbed on those fish and throw them in the deep fryer.
Wash down with some ice cold beer and then enjoy the rest of the evening dreaming about the figs.

My March plans had initially included the beginning of my sunchoke harvest next week and putting in the first rows of peas mid-month... which could easily still happen. Given that we're getting our best snowfall of the year right now, that may be postponed... or require a little top-undressing before I get to the harvesting part. Sunchokes are a remarkably forgiving crop, but not necessarily worth shoveling snow to harvest, and I have no delivery obligations till Easter week-end. It's truly spring in the hoop houses now, but even they will be a bit cool come Sunday.

Arghh... I am all ready getting behind on my posting and my planting. I have potted up some plants already. Probally could of gone if hardend. My tomatoes seedling are strong and will be ready when the weather really breaks. The boxes are done and will post pics in the next couple of days.

Gene,

Nice looking crappie which are one of my favorites along with cat fish. Fishing
is cranking up here with the 70's. My back yard is a 2 acre pond which is
loaded.

Fig rooting is cranking up and I'm looking forward to the growing season.

The best to you on your figs and fishing.

Real nice Gene my trees are taking their sweet time to wake up but it should not be to much longer as weather has warmed up. The crappie look great.

Good morning Joe and Martin.

Joe things have finally started drying out and warming up. As soon as your tree wakes up, just to make sure it does, I'll get it in the mail to you. Have you done any fishing yet. I'm a little late in starting but hope to get in at least a trip a week for the next few.

Martin, yes I plan to put a few of them in the ground this year. I'm trying to decide which ones. I know a Martin's Unknown is going in for sure. I think I'll also put in one of the two Richard's Unknown which are suppose to be ever bearing. I have room for about 10 if I keep them properly pruned. I own some property down in the country that I might plant some of my extras at. They will be in danger of flooding if a hurricane comes our way so I'll will only plant those of which I have extras. Some will go to friends and some I'll try to make a deal with people to let me plant them a tree and have the right to visit it during fig season. I will keep some in pots for this year at least while I decide what to do with them. I'm hoping to buy some property to plant them on.

Gene,those crappie look great(don't forget the hush puppies). I wish I could till my garden---it's just still a little too wet. We're a couple weeks behind normal here also, but the figs are leafing out and the pear trees are blooming, so it's about to get busy around here. Great looking trees, by the way. Tim
