Weirdest things in your garden?

Portland (and apparently Austin) recommends keeping the city weird. Well, I'm doing my share to keep my garden weird, or rather it's keeping itself weird.

To date, I've grown a Thrive rose with enormous sepals resembling maple leaves. Continuing the maple leaf theme, every year my Cecile Brunner displays maple-shaped foliage tucked in and amongst her regular rose-shaped foliage. She also wins the prize for longest proliferation. Truly Olympic material! Even my Clematis terniflora is getting in on the "keep it weird" scene. This year, for the first time in almost 10 years, it's gone variegated! Is there something special about this particular spring and all the odd viral symptoms in our gardens? (I'm assuming the variegation is caused by a previously latent virus.)

As usual, I'll post photos one at a time.

Carol
