Yeh, my ( Gold Rush?)Dawn Redwood finally grew taller

This is the third spring since my tree was shipped to me and almost 3 years since I plant it where I want it to grow.

For the first two years the tree did not grow taller at all. During one of those first two years, very early just prior to the then growing season I pruned off some of the more awkward growing branches, and now it is apparent that the tree has done a good job developing a main leader and well balanced radial branches.

Also currently, near the end of our spring rainy season this year, the tree finally can be observed as having grown at least a foot taller that is has been for the past two years while its roots were trying to become well established.

It is encouraging to see the tree finally beginning to grow taller. At the rate it is doing this, that makes me wonder if the tree will end up having grown at least 3 feet taller before it drops its leaves and goes dormant next winter.
