I don't think it's Autumn Damask!! (Photos)

I got a gallon plant of Autumn Damask in May from Rose Fire in Ohio. It has been growing very well and has just put out it's first buds. However, the buds are a peachy-orange instead of the pink I expected them to be!! I smelled them and they smell luscious even though they aren't open fully. What do you think? Could this be Autumn Damask or have I received a wrong rose? I will post another pic when the buds have bloomed!

No, you do not have Autumn Damask.
You have here a modern rose.

I've found, when this happens, that the incorrect rose is often one that sits on propagation benches right up against the correct one.

In this case, checking Rose Fire's alpha list, the rose right next to Autumn Damask would be 'Autumn Sunset.'

Check the link below, and I think there's a probability that's what you have. A tall Shrub Rose int. in the 1980's, which looks quite interesting -- unless you were counting on Autumn Damask!

Oh bummer :-( I really, really wanted Autumn Damask. Oh well, I will phone them today and ask about a replacement. The other thing too, is that I placed this guy between Abraham Darby and Parfum de l'Hay for the contrast and now this one's blooms are going to be too similar to Abe! Which means transplanting time! Arghhh. Although I must reiterate, WHAT. A. FRAGRANCE! Amazing.

just a thought or two - but did you research your planners pretty good? we thought we did - but apparently didnt. we got lured in by the fancy smancy computer drawings and when we met with the fella - he wanted to do everything by email, no face to face time. we convinced him to meet with us several times, but he had very little input into our actual design as far as giving assitance, if we had said we wanted a wall to be 10.37546 inches - he would have drawn it that way - instead of telling us what is more practical from a builders standpoint while keeping our ideas in mind. we ended up with a nice plan - but we did every bit of it and all he did was put it in his program. $3k. hindsight. we probably could have selected a default plan and had the company modify it for less. lesson learned. you have to remember - the way they are viewing it is the planner/architect is drawing out only what you express to them. if there is a breakdown in communication - that is where people go -- "what tha ....?" lady i work with is designing one and just got her plans back and she was griping left and right about nothing was right about the plan - when we asked her if she told the designer if that is what she wanted - she said no, "she figured she knew what she was trying to build..."

I don't see anything sexual about the one of her and her dad.The one of her wrapped in the sheet is not a pose I would think appropriate for a 15/16 year old and not one I would allow my 15 almost 16 year old DGD to pose for.I looked at all the ones posted from the photo shoot and didn't see anything particularly suggestive or sexual(except for the one in the sheet)about any of them.The one on youtube/myspace(?) where she is showing her green lace bra is more suggestive than the others,and even other poses there are the same types of poses other teenage girls are posting.The dress she was wearing on the CMA's was waaaay too sexy for a girl her age.I was afraid it was going to slip any minute and show something that shouldn't be seen,and she definitely wasn't wearing a bra! I was thinking maybe she should have had that little green lace number on with that dress.LOL As someone else mentioned,I think she is outgrowing the sweet little girl image and they are slowly preparing her fans for a more mature,(and sexier) Miley.I think she will likely go the way of all the other young,spoiled stars that have let their fame and fortune cloud their image,or that have parents/guardians that would do most anything to make a buck.I don't think any of them should be a role model for my children,or now my grandchildren! I wonder if Bindi will be next!

I'm glad to hear that the LED lights are working for you. It sounds like you have a much bigger space than we do, with only 2 more lights. I think this was perhaps our biggest mistake -- just too many of these lights. (As I mentioned, I was worried that LEDs wouldn't put out enough light). Maybe if we had only installed 4 of them, the amount of light would be ok. To reduce the number to 4 at this point would require completely re-placing the lights and rewiring. I wonder also if the increased number of lights in our smaller space is amplifying the effect of the flickering? i.e. maybe it wouldn't be noticeable if the lights were further apart? The housing and dimmer switch we have are both on the compatible list on the Cree website. All 7 of the lights are connected to the same dimmer switch. So I'm not sure what the problem is. When they are on at full power, they don't buzz or flicker. We had friends over yesterday and at full power they thought the lights looked great. (It wasn't too bright for them). Then I dimmed them and they didn't think the buzzing was too bad. They also didn't really notice much flickering. But then I started waving my arms around and they were shocked. The strobe effect when the lights were dimmed made my kitchen seem like a disco! Cbjmidwood, when you dim your lights and wave your arms around, is there any strobing?

The aircraft, whether new or aged (I prefer not to use the word "decrepit") must have detailed, rigorous testing rather frequently. Ditto the pilots. If either doesn't pass - they don't fly! As Monica said - you're in greater danger per passenger-mile on the road to the airport than on the aircraft ... not to mention travelling by bus/train - certainly by car - across half a dozen states! It's mainly that travel by car is a routine activity, but travel by air is not. But who ever suggested that we humans operate most of our lives in a rational fashion?! Also, I hope that the young one who refuses to fly will get some treatment to alleviate the fears enough to allow him/her to agree to use that means of travel ... to not tolerate it will have negative consequences in later life. And the longer treatment is delayed, the more difficult it becomes, as we get more set in our ways (imagine how tough it becomes as one approaches post-retirement!). Plane crashes are more "glamorous" - "spectacular" ... ... than dying in bed. But a much higher proportion of the total population dies in bed ... which doesn't get pictured on TV. But which one of us refuses to lie on a bed? Enjoy whichever adventure of living is part of your life today - this is still God's world, and it's great (if you live in N. America - not so great if you live in Myanmar/Burma, parts of the Middle East including Iraq, Africa, India/Pakistan or Afghanistan). Being close to 80, I think - I'm sure - that I'd much prefer flying on an aircraft at whatever level of decrepitude to dealing with the examination to be offered by the Admissions Council to the Great Beyond that I expect to be my lot, as a heedless North American/European, after the portion of my life that's been lived on earth is completed. ole joyful

Wow, they must have been really having an off day to mistake this rose with Autumn Damask. The foliage is totally not the same.

OMGosh! Like Jeri I couldn't help laughing. Not at you, of course, but at the mix up.

And like greybird, anyone who has ever grown Autumn Damask would have know that was so NOT it just from the foliage alone.

Just wait until you get the real thing and compare! You'll be laughing too.

Yes, that is 'Autumn Sunset'... I've had one for 6 years.

It will die to the ground every year in our zone, but it quickly recovers to 4'-5' every spring. It has a lovely scent also.

Abe Darby will be fine next to it, as Abe has cooler pink tones in our zone rather than warmer apricot tones.

Thank you all :) I guess I am glad that even if it was the incorrect rose, it seems so lovely according to the helpmefind pictures I have seen. And one can never have too many peachy roses imho! Also, RoseFire is refunding my money so I placed an order for Autumn Damask with High Country Roses and I should get it in a week :)

Rob, am glad I won't have to move it then! I hate transplanting lol. I am having a carpenter build the arbor swing for me but he is doing a deck project for someone right now and my project is next in line so it will be 3 weeks. I cannot wait for it :D
