Small sidewalk tree suggestions needed

User

Hi ALL,

Two years ago we bought a home on a small street with a sidewalk close to the house and there is a young large oak tree planted right in front of the house and is lifting the sidewalk.

The branches were brushing up against the front windows on the second and third floors.

So I hired a tree service to "trim" it.

They butchered it. It looks horrible! 300.00 for nothing.

But the branches against the house aren't there anymore.

Then there was the horrible painful acorns last summer!

THousands of them, all large! Hitting the neighbors children in the head sending them home screaming!

The car alarms going off constantly!

My husband loves the tree.

I swept up trans cans full of acorns, they were so heavy, I can't believe the transh men could pick them up!

I have to replace this tree with another smaller tree that won't injure people, (I think the squirrels were shaking the branches when the people walked under them) damm street rat squirrels.

ANother tree person wants 600.00 to remove this tree now.

I have to have permission from my local township to do so, and must tell them what I am replacing the tree with- it has to be another tree.

Please help me with a suggestion of a smaller tree that won't damage the sidewalk any further (which is more money) and won't wake me up with car alarms ever again.

Thanks to all suggestions.
