Tami Sue - Measure their leaf span - and if it is close to 3 x 3.5" - repot into 3.5 oyama. Oyama mix should be wicking mix plus 1/4 perlite at least. As far as I remember Rob's mix - it is pretty heavy on vermiculite - so I would add 1/3 perlite -and do not forget perlite to fill the bottom piece of the Oyama pot. To be safe - after you repot - be really careful on watering - do not fill reservoir to the upper mark until the plant catches up. In my experience VioletBarn plants with removed bottom leaves - just shoot out in a hurry - they are strong and have good root system. When you will be repooting - use the mold method - we discussed it in a previous post - just put it a bit deeper so you can add soil to cover the neck. My congrats irina

..obviously very hardy folk over there in Sweden...thanks for that link mariannese... they look good size roses too..despite the snow.. ..thanks for comments regarding protection and marking where they are...the nursery included some nice labels which I've attached but I know where they all are so I'm hoping that won't be a problem but I know what you mean... ...they're all planted now and a very easy job it was...lovely well rooted plants all of them... I really would like to get some more like these..but I'm more or less full up for now... ...of those 5 the two with the best roots, although all were good and these might have been growing for longer, were Le Vesuve and L19 Laos...and jerijen might be interested in this but L19 Laos I found to be the most attractive little shrub, well foliaged, sparse thorns.. and 3 good stems with an apparent open habit...very graceful looking..easily the most attractive of these at this young stage....I was loathe to shorten the stems but felt I ought to do that..

Dear Smittee, I would not worry about the size of the bananas. I have bought them as small plants and even grown indoors in NY, they grew crazy fast. As soon as spring came, I swear I could measure there growth daily. I don't know what to tell you to do down in FL, but I know they will outgrow there pots quickly. I hope you can plant them out soon. Maybe remove suckers if they begin forming since you wan the tree to grow strong and healthy roots. Andrew

Laura & MyerMike..... Well, well, well.....like running into old friends at a party! Great to know you guys are still around. Good to read your comments. So...yep, killed all my Adeniums, back a few years ago. My loss. Now I know to move my butt faster when cold weather is about to hit. I have had some successes besides my failures. Caudex/Fat-trees (Bursera fagaroides & Operculicarya decaryi, Operc. platypus) are fattening up very quickly, and trunks tripled diameters since I first bought them. Note to Adenium growers: If you want to grow easy plants without the headaches that Adenium can bring....try the trees that I just mentioned. I grow all three trees "hard", in gritty mix, no water except when it rains. I force them to break dormancy in late March, and stick them on the back porch, in full sun, when small leaves start to appear. They stay outside, in hot sun, until leaves turn gold and fall off. Then dry storage in light ( trunks are photosynthetic) until spring. Mike....I no longer grow figs. I won't go through the trouble anymore. Weather in NYC winters has become too severe for containerized figs and I lost all my expensive, and rare varieties back in 2014. Growing in NYC can be very challenging because the growing season is so damn short, and winters are dark and dreary. Not great conditions for ideal Adenium culture. This winter, I am going to put Adeniums under supplemental LED lighting, and see if this helps. Gave up on growing Clivia - too expensive, too slow growing, not enough supplies of desired varieties, and I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on a flowering-size plant, that I may kill. Over the years, I perfected my skills for killing plants, and I can do it much more quickly and efficiently now. I kill only the best. I just bought some Iochroma seeds (a type of blue-flowering Brugmansia/Angel's Trumpet), and I'll see if this species survives. Plumeria/Toba's Fire/Embers: Doing just fine and makes plenty of new growth each season. Now, the original stick has grown to about 5 feet and subdivided into three equal-sized branches. Before heading back to NYC, I'll throw this Plumie into the ground, for some better root run. So...now you're up to speed. Laura, your plants, the culture, and the staging are exceptional, and the extra grooming work that you do, sure shows.
