That's great! Be sure to post pictures of Citrus Splash when it blooms, I'm very curious about that one.

I got my J&P Austins and the roots were tremendous. I had trouble getting them all into 2 5 gallon buckets for soaking.

I'm still deciding where to plant them. Luckily we're having wet cool weather so the soil is soft enought to dig in tomorrow.

Citrus Splash is a good bloomer in that I have had lots of flowers and its a very young shrub. Still, they don't look like the pictures. Humm....

I really like Pat Henry's roses from RU. I have dealt with them several times in the past.
I hope you have better luck with J&P's "Wildfire" than I did. I have tried to grow it three or four times as I really love the orange color of the blooms. But, the one Wildfire that I did get to successfully break dormancy, grew pitifully and it's few and far between blooms were mini-flora sized at best. I finally gave up on it.

So far the J&P bare roots and the RU plants are doing really well. I put them in the newly made shrub rose section in my front yard. Picture below-

From right to left- Scarlett Velvet Clements rose from Heirloom, two of the J&P barefroots from this spring Greetings and Ruffled Cloud (love this one), then Citrus Splash, and just peeking out from in back of Citrus Splash is Louise Clements. You can't really see the rest which are in back of this front row and need to grow some to be seen from this angle. Still this new garden turned out well, just needs to mature some to be smashing.

Citrus Splash was a good bloomer for me last year. I noticed that while it is always striped, it is only orange when the flower is newly opened and later it fades to a pinkish color. Still pretty but I like it best when its in its orange state.

Of the four J&P shrub roses planted along here (Golden Zest, Citrus Splash, Ruffled Clound, Greetings) the one that bloomed the most (almost non stop) was Greetings then Ruffled Cloud, next Citus Splash and Golden Zest bloomed the least. Of course the flower form is thickest on Golden Zest and when it did bloom the flowers were stunning. I am sure I will have more bloms this spring, as they have all grown like crazy.

FOUR plants of Champlain, lucky you! I just love this rose, the blooms look wonderful with the foliage, and then the foliage turns color in the fall and THEN the stems are deep red all winter. That's really a good-looking shrub bed & it sure will be colorful. Love seeing pictures, thanks for posting.

I love Greetings! Hope it is one you love too-such a bright and floriferous single! Had Royal Wedding once...loved it, but it died its first year (probably my first try at growing roses).
I am looking forward to the RU order coming in May. I wish I could find Golden Zest around here!

I am so looking forward to that shrub rose section blooming this year. They were such nice but small roses when I planted that section. Could not believe how much they grew by fall. This spring I did cut them all back as I like my shrub roses to get nice and full instead of tall and skinny.

I have no plans to order from J&P this spring as I don't see anything I can not live without in their catalog and I know I can find a great selection in the J&P Milk Carton roses locally. In fact I am going to the nursery that has the best selection this week, probably tomorrow, so we will see what I come home with.

Rita, I'm wondering about planting the bare root roses I have on order. I have good soil for the first 12-14"...then hard clay. Last Spring I had trouble digging down far enough to fit the HUGE roots into the hole. Do you trim them if they are too long? I got some own root DA's from J&P's and they were really big...

I don't trim the roots but I don't have clay, just fairly easy to dig thru soil.

I noticed that they did not have GREETINGS featured in any of this springs J&P Catalogs this year. Pretty bad considering that it was a new one for them last spring. Plus I think it was one of their exclusives so you could not get it anywere else. Its a blooming fool so it is a shame that they are not showing it again.

I figgured I would see GREETINGS in the local selection of J&P Milk Carton roses but not a one to be seen.

I'd like to know where you saw these specials.
I don't see them on the website anywhere.
Any clues?

If anyone is looking for an incredible shrub rose, I highly recommend JP Knock Out Roses. I cant get enough of them. They grow very well, the hardiest rose ever and each plant has never been without at least 30 flowers on it at once. I have a huge perennial garden in my front yard that is more dedicated to other roses and such but I have these going around my deck mixed in with box woods and stella dora's. I dont know why JP doesnt have them in the catalog but you can find them at most places. My favorite is the dark hot pink! You wont be disappointed!

chuck billie- J&P runs thier special collection sales a little later in the season. I have no idea if they put them on the website as I never go there. But once you are on their mailing list, they send you Catalog after Catalog and before the end of the spring shipping season they have some increadable Collection deals available. It just shows up in one of the Catalogs.

Does anyone have a picture of what the mail order bareroots look like when they arrive?
Sounds like they are impressive.
I'm very tempted to put in a J&P mail-order but am curious about what they look like. I usually get them at my local nursery.

I don't have a picture but the J&P bareroots have really nice big root systems. If I pot them many times I either have to trim the roots or go to a much bigger pot size than what I wanted to grow them in.

I know that I was used to buying (and still do buy) the J&P Milk Carton roses locally. When you buy their shipped roses bareroot there is no comparision, the shipped bareroots have sooooo much bigger roots its increadable.
