Insect spray - Pyrethrins + Canola Oil
Comments (1)Pyrethrins are effective when used according to directions. Vegetable oils are also mildly effective when used repetitively. GOOD LUCK! --Stitz--...See Morecanola oil for scale
Comments (14)Yes I am here every now and then. My concotion is simple. You have to mix 50% canola oil and 50% Ultrafine oil (horticultural oil, or volck oil) then follow the recommended ratios to control your specific pests. It is important that you mix the oil first before mixing with water for increased solubility. I found this to be more effective than the Ultrafine oil alone, and cheaper too. One pint of canola plus one pint of ultrafine makes it twice more ammunition but not twice the price. And again, just like the ultrafine oil, follow directions for citrus or specific to your plant, don't overdo it. If you overdo it on your citrus, severe leaf drop is the result especially coming towards spring....See MoreCanola oil saves a snake
Comments (13)Another garter snake was saved by the canola oil method. Anyway, I opened the garage door this morning and there was a garter snake in a sticky strap. The trap is normally tucked in a 1" deep depression in the corner of the garage. The snake (and trap) were in the middle of the garage when I found it. This snake was a bit bigger than the first one although maybe it was the first one with a monthÂs more growth on it! If it is the original, then itÂs learned not to go to the right corner because it got caught in the trap on the left this time. IÂm sorry the little buggers get caught but IÂm quite willing to do the canola trick to free them. IÂm not inclined to remove the traps. I do not relish the thought of opening a garage cabinet and staring into the face of a snake, even though I am much bigger. Besides, it would be expensive - I would jump back in fright, fall over the weed bucket, hit my head on the concrete, sustain a concussion, and have to make a $50 co-payment at the emergency room! Comments (13)A quarter cup sounded really large to me too - even if sage in cake is okay which sounds odd to me. The whole thing reminds me of a pumpkin gingerbread trifle my DIL tried last week. A lot of work and to me the end result had too many tastes fighting with each other. The plain gingerbread with a bit of whipped cream or lemon sauce was better. I think the whole idea of using my whip cream canister with hot contents and a triple charge sounds scary. The instructions that came with it certainly don't cover that kind of use (or abuse)....See Morealbert_135 39.17°N 119.76°W 4695ft.
