Is Echo Power Blend Two Cycle Mix + StaBil a conflict vs a waste?

I'm purchasing the two cycle mix for the oil but I notice it's rated to have a stabilizer also. I treat my 2 gallons of gas with StaBil before adding any oil if needed X ratios needed. Could there be a conflict with the tow different stabilizers?

The real waste is I still mixing my 70s, 80s equipment (chainsaws, blower) 16:1 as they are rated. Peace of Mind! Since one saw locked on 50:1 fuel. It possibly was not a Premium Synthetic mix and a mistake since it was leftover 50:1 from summer boating.

Echo oil is good oil and stabilizes well- yes. Is their a conflict using both- no. If it gives you more peace of mind, no problem!

tomplum, Thanks For The Relpy! My chains of thoughts are:

1.The little use I put on the equipment for my personal use only should not cost that much more.

2. No excess smoke or mess I would expect with excess oil (even though Echo suggest less smoke).

3. I respect the Factory recommendations and I know technology changes things but how in this case? I feel synthetic is the key word; hearing/seeing engines perform better on synthetic blend or synthetic oil.

Jim: Iam an Old OMC. Fan have always swore by Envinrude . Raced Dirt Bikes and Snowmobiles for Yrs. I have found that Religious use of Premium Oils and Plug Checks to ensure proper lubrication will ensure long efficient Engine Life. I always do Plug Checks to determine engine performance . My Old V-4 90 would troll all day and cruise at 35 MPH all day . Never bought into the OMC vs Yamaha Manf. Oil issues , just made sure the oil was TC-W3 Rated. Eventually with the Amsoil Product I introduced it into my Snowmobile , Chainsaw then Outboards @ 70-1 . As for the Yamaha 70 , great outboard . I assume you are talking mid 80's vintage since early 90's they went to Oil Injection. I would buy it in a Heartbeat , can't kill the bottom end of any OMC (Stinger) but the Power and fuel conservation of the Yamaha would be like night and day lol . Are these 2-cycles? If so, you may need to adjust the Hi and Lo mixtures or at least move the needle valves in case there's some crud built up there. Using treated gas, you should be nearly immune from carb trouble but sometimes mixtures get a little cockeyed over the years. Typically hard-starting is a fuel starvation issue and running issues can go any number of ways. If they are '4-cycling' (firing on every other stroke) it usually is too rich. If they don't have a good throttle response and tend to slow down its usually too lean. Then if this doesn't fix it you can go with the new carb. You probably will have to get a special screwdriver to fit your particular application on the needle valves. The government forced them to make them difficult to adjust because of emissions. Unfortunately it also makes most of these tools impossible to use. I got my tool on ebay and it was the best $3 I ever spent. My Ryobi is tame and sweet as a house cat now, but I was ready to shoot the darn thing before I was able to adjust the mixtures. It would not start or run, basically. That pretty much does it as far as being able to use the tool you paid for. I buy mid-range gas and use Sta-Bil 360 Marine in it plus about an ounce a gallon of Marvel Mystery Oil, plus my regular mix oil (synthetic blend at 50:1). Same for the 4-cycles except for the mix oil, of course. Every gas engine on my place, vehicles included, stay happy and sweet. The vehicles do not get the MMO except in the oil a few days before an oil change.

Three summers I was in a squeeze and needed a trimmer that accepted a cultivator attachment, I needed it pronto and it had to be cheap. Quickest place was home depot, I forked over the $89 for a Ryobi 25cc balanced crank two-stroke. I'm no stranger to two-stroke powered tool. I own and have repaired many top brands out these such as Echo and Stihl, I'm always fiddling with some small engine. I've become very proficient at using Dremel cut-off discs to bypass the EPA carb needles. Lol! I love Ryobi 18V tools, IMO they are the best value out there, especially the impact driver, I actually use them every day as an electrician, but I had bad experiences with past Ryobi gas powered tools(non-ethanol related). Anyway, I wasn't expecting much with the trimmer, To my surprise, it's actually a powerful, reliable trimmer/"power head". As soon as I took it out of the box I took one look at the non-adjustable carb (grrrr!) and figured it would rear its ugly head at some point but so far it hasnt. One thing I think that's really made a difference is right before the fall/winter months I switch from 50-1 gas/oil mix and start using pre-mix fuel. I just keep the pre-mix in the tank for the slow months. In the spring when I start using it bi-weekly again I switch over to reg gas with 2 stroke oil. It really does start on the second or third pull every time. Its a great value for a home owner. Just make sure to use the pre-mix fuel in the can before storing.

I've been using the Stihl synthetic in my saw and FS trimmer, but still add Startron to the fuel. All my fuel gets Startron at the pump. Even the Echo oil from years back would run a saw good and long. I don't have any 16:1 or even 32:1 products. If you mix it that rich and don't have excessive emissions, I guess that I wouldn't worry about it. You certainly want to take care of that old stuff. I would think tho you could go to the next thinner level and not have an issue. IE I may run a 16:1 product at 32:1, but personally if I were really working it- I'd leave the 50:1 in the can.... 16:1 is just a LOT of oil. Lighter duty use or basic test runs 40/50:1 shouldn't be an issue. Tho "They' say it is allowed. "They" don't have to replace the equipment, do they?

I mix a rich 32:1 and run all my 2 strokes on it. I mix 2 gallons at a time and keep it out of the sun. Lasts about 9 months. No 2 stroke carb issues to speak of. I do dose the mix with MMO when I fill up the tool. I prefer reliability to top performance

Using todays premium dino oils with stabilizer you can for go the additional stabilizer if fuel is used within 4-6 mths. If you are going to store longer than that and I would go with Tom's advice of Star*tron . As far as oil mix ratio's I use 50: 1 on all units from saws to weed wackers and snowmobiles and outboards with no issues with premium synthetic Amsoil . Some of the units are over 30 yrs old with OEM ratio recommendation of 16: 1 . Todays oil are that much better than what was produced 30 yrs ago . Even todays dino oils are safe at 50:1 if used properly . The risk with lighter mix ratios is human error when you do not mix proper, but to each their own . If you sleep better with 32: 1 OR heavier 16: 1 have at it Bro :)
