Lost tag. What is it?

I'm not sure anymore where I took the cutting from, but I'm pretty sure it's a pernetiana. Anyone recognize it?

Hi Jill,

It appears to me to possibly be
'Etoille de Feu' (translates to star of fire or starfire I believe)
A lovely Pernetiana bred by Joseph Pernet-Ducher, 1921
fruity fragrance.
I have never seen this cultivar grow to be more than c. 3 1/2 feet tall, even on rootstock, so if the plant is short, that might be it. See photos at helpmefind.com/roses

I love Pernetiana roses and would like to see the A.R.S. keep it as a seperate class, as you know many of the Pernetiana roses really are distinct from other Hybrid Teas, in their fragrance and foliage, and of course their remarkable history.

Looks like oregano (Origanum vulgare) to me. And if it was a local plant/herb sale, it is probably oregano not marjoram since the local plant sales are usually full of garden surplus and I do not believe marjoram would be hardy in your location. FataMorgana

A dianthus...not sure of the type, but again, it looks like it's well grown and will give a lot more blooms. My personal suggestion would be A) throw the viola out (it's done it's due..doesn't like heat and wouldn't like house life) B) I kinda think the dianthus would overwinter just fine in the ground (and probably much less fine indoors). Unless you have excellent conditions, indoor growing is more where plants go to die. it's torture...and that's a high light requiring plant.

There are quite a few pummelos planted in Fresno residences -- although a rarity when counted against the ubiquitous Washington Parent Navel, there are certainly many more than I ever expected. Whereabouts are you located, if you don't mind sharing.

It looks like the double-yellow Knock-out that I saw at HomeDepo this summer. Both double-yellow and double-pink Knock-outs have a nice scent in cold weather.

Thanks, Luxrosa. I'll look at the plant at the Heritage tomorrow, if it's in bloom. I just looked at the pictures on HMF, and don't see the distinctly different colors on the topside and reverse side of the petals, but that could just be the photography. When it first started to open, it was yellowish on top, now more apricot-peach, and pink on the reverse.

This is it's first and only flower. I don't know if it can hang on a couple more days, but if it does, I'll bring it.

As it happens, I have a young plant of 'Etoile de Feu', recently obtained from RVR, in bloom. One difference (of what importance?) that I can see is that my plant's bloom and a number of those on HMF have small, curly petals in the center which the bloom on your plant does not have. Anyway, photos of the blooms on my 'Etoile de Feu' today:

Thanks for the pictures (our plant had no bloom today). They confirm what I thought- not the two different colors of my rose.

I don't know what it is, but I know that I've read somewhere about a rose with that coloring (pink on the reverse, yellow on the inside). I'm going to browse Vintage's catalog to see if it's in there somewhere.

I brought the plant to the Celebration of Old Roses. Gregg suggested Girona. The pictures on HMF do appear to match that, so until I get another flower, the rose is "Girona?"

I've never seen this rose so don't know if there's any similarity, but the name 'Gruss an Coburg' wandered through my mind.

I'll keep Gruss an Coberg on the shortlist, along with Brandy, of which I have propagated several cuttings, and could have lost a label on one.

I just looked at 'Girona' which is from viintagegardens, and which is in bloom this week and the inner petals are yellow with the outer petals pink., its' usual colors. I've never seen peachy tones on this rose.
The reverse of ' Etoille de Feu' is a distinct Turkey red.
If it isn't Brandy, might you post a photo of the reverse sides of the petals?
