Limited budget, PVC watering system in mind. Keep it simple?

Hello all,

Have been surfing this forum for a while now,

but haven't been able to find exactly what I'm looking

for...hoping someone might be able to assist.

We have a good sized patch of land we grow gourds on

each year. We've tried every other type of watering

system there is, and soaker hoses, traveling sprinklers,

etc. are out of the question.

A good system would most likely be a framework of

PVC pipe laying on top of the ground.

Hubby seems to think we'll just connect all the pipes

in a framework, then drill holes at appropriate

intervals, with a T at the end of the rows which

will connect to the hose.

However, he wants to cut a small patch of soaker hose

and then cable tie each piece on each hole along

the PVC so we don't end up with a shooting spray

out the holes.

Does anyone think this is a good idea that will work

the way he's thinking?

I thought that just a hole would work fine provided

you don't turn the hose on full blast.

Would you advise using the white 1/2" pipe?

One other mention...hubby isn't well known for his

skill of following instructions, so a pre-fab kit

would not be a good idea. We can lay the pipe and

get the biggest part of the watering system, but

the actual water distribution is in question.

Any ideas? Tips? Suggestions? Webpage resources?

MANY thanks.

:-)
