This would look great. Plus it would give you more privacy in your yard and garden. The only problem that I see is that you are going to leave a strip on the road side. The roses you mentioned get to be 6' wide and there's no room for a strip of grass unless you plan on mowing UNDER the roses, which would be a pain. My suggestion would be to make it 6' wide, underplant with lantana, which can take the heat and look beautiful all season long. Most of the earthkind roses are great, but I would avoid Martha Gonzales. That's just a plain ugly rose (to me). Ducher is great, Mutabilis is great, Jean Bach Sisley is great but I don't know if it has made the EarthKind list - it SHOULD. I don't spray and it's one of my best roses. Cramosi Superior, which I don't know if it is on the Earthkind list, but it is the best rose I grow if you are looking for showiness from a distance and overall health. This rose is covered in blooms from the ground all the way up, and is full and twiggy from the ground all the way up. I wish all roses had as beautiful of a form as Cramosi Superior. Most of the Chinas are similar to that. My sister is not a rose gardener, and doesn't have time to take care of anything, and I planted those 3 roses along her road, with 5 Duchers on one side, 5 Mutabilis in the middle, and 5 Cramosi Superiors on the other side. It looks gorgeous, and she barely even waters it.

Hi Slotshot, Yes there is. There are specific one that spray a rectangle pattern with the head in the middle or on the sides. Look at the pattern shapes on the store display or containers. All the major brands carry them. The local nurseries, irrigation stores or big box stores have them. Match the brand of your sprinkler head body and all you have to do is unscrew the old head and screw on the new one. Replace the little filter part under the head, a new head will come with a new filter. Adjust the spray distance by adjusting the center little screw. Clockwise is less. That is about it. Gl Aloha.

Hey neighbor. Phormium (Flax) is too wide for that very space unless you go with dwarf types. Most of them will get 4-5' wide and you'll be doging them every time you walk by. You could do good height with 'Tiny Tower' Italian Cypress, they'll stay less than 2' wide but get 20' tall (eventually--they're slow growing). Not the species--they get too big for your space. There's a 'Tiny Tower' in a pot in front of Peets at the Trader Joe's shopping center at Irvine & Newport. You could do a vine but I would stay away from the Cape Honeysuckle. It can get to be a rampant mess. Have a look (also by Trader Joe's) at the Cup of Gold vine Solandra maxima. They have them growing as upright shrubs. A tough plant with nearly year-round huge yellow flowers. The kangaroo paws are stunning, beautiful plants, but they can be tough to grow and seem short-lived around here. They get an infection called "black ink" and are touchy. The water company office in Tustin at Main and Prospect had a bunch of them...but sadly they've mostly died out. They were quite stunning for a couple of years. Another idea for height would be some wrought-iron pieces. You have narrow spot there, so think narrow, vines on structures, but watch the density and tidyness of the vines lest they harbor rats. They are attracted to rampant dense vines as nesting and hiding places in our area. What about some succulents, such as Aeoniums, alternated with the 'Tiny Tower' cypress, with maybe one smaller vine on a trellis? Sorry for limited ideas, but the space is narrow. Narrow spaces between house and concrete are difficult. Sometimes just concrete right up to the house is a better idea in the long run. You have green on the other side of the walkway--do you really need that narrow planter area right next to the house?

Hi happytimes, Different option here. We have 30" countertops, which is a HUGE benefit, on our cooktop run. Lower cabinets are all 24" (which in hindsight, I wish I'd made deeper, i.e., the full 30 or add'l 3" at least) - all pulled forward 6". Our 48" Capital Culinarian (and adjacent pullouts) are pulled forward an additional 3". Three years later, I have to admit rarely ever cleaning the backsplash. Cooktop pulled forward 9": Between cooktop edge and island edge (prep sink and prep area) is 39". Perfect for prepping, twirl, throw into skillet. Fine for multiple people cooking at same time as well. I like the 24" range pulled forward (backsplash stays cleaner). Also, with 30" deep countertops, I have 18" deep uppers, so store my large serving bowls vertically (and spices on the doors). Last - huge plug for the 30" countertops. Love 'em!
