troy-bilt gas trimmerwon't run
Comments (1)Lean mixture. You have to cheat the EPA to get most of the 2-cycle trimmers to run. The hi and lo speed needle valves have a special shape to the heads so only the correct tool will fit. Once you know what you need you can find it on ebay. Once you get it, experiment with settings so it idles and runs well wide open. Most trimmers don't have an air filter. I don't know about the other parts - like you say, you've been using it for three years and it hasn't caught fire yet....See MoreTroy Bilt TB20CS 2 Cycle Trimmer Weed Eater will not run
Comments (17)Daniel My problem is my weed trimmer was running great till I heard it changing from noise while using it. Just like a metal noise was coming up and it died out. No way to get it started up again since. A couple months before this happened I replaced the carburetor, spark plug, fuel lines and filter and the plastic prime bulb. I took the spark plug out and checked if the cylinder wall was is still OK. Everything looks OK. When I turn the spark plug in again, prime it, it is very hard to pull on the starter rope. It is just like it is sitting under pressure? Crankshaft looks OK, Checked the ignition which is OK, starter rope works OK with spark plug out, so I'm out of inspiration. Any idea what the problem is?...See MoreTroy-Bilt or Mantis?
Comments (4)I have a Mantis I got used off Craigs-list several years ago for $125. Starts easy and runs great, but be warned that you really need to hold on to this thing. If it hits some hard soil, it starts to bounce around. Other than that, I like it. A larger tiller would probably be better for my use, but I prefer the Mantis because it takes up so little space in the shed. You should consider borrowing one to try it out to see if you can handle it. I burn through a tank and a half of gas tilling my garden, and feel like I got a good workout when I'm done, and I'm much bigger than you. (6'1") That said, for the application you describe it does seem like the right machine....See MoreTroy-Bilt 4-Cycle Trimmer Won't Cold Start But Runs Amazing
Comments (6)You left gas in the carb for long time, even you vitually inspect the internal of the carb, it might not be good enough. Get SeaFoam and run a tankful and see what happen since you can somehow start it. If you are going to leave gas in the trimmer for storage, use Stabil from now on. The way I store stuff is to empty the tank, run it dry, close the choke, prime the bulb, hold full throttle and start it and let it run to stop, and keep pulling while holding full throttle. This should pull all the gas out of the carb. THis work only on handheld trimmer etc....See Morercmoser
