Hi -

Another rosy event coming up is our 20th anniversary symposium at the Sacramento Historic Rose Garden. Some info about it is posted on our website, and it's not too early to purchase tickets. We will soon have info about accommodations, too (we will have a list of choices in the area, to meet a range of budget needs).

We will be presenting quite a bit of new information, with Gregg Lowery talking about Hybrid Chinas, Darrell Schramm sharing his research about how roses came to California, Fred Boutin talking about new discoveries (he's still identifying roses thought to be lost!), and Linda Buzzell talking about Father Schoener and his Santa Barbara roses. We also will talk about our garden, how it began, its roses, and where its going. It will be the Heritage Rose Foundation annual meeting, too, and its president, Stephen Scanniello, will be conducting a live auction of some rare roses and talk about rose preservation at our evening dinner. We will have roses in silent auction and for sale, too. There will be an evening spooky Lantern Tour in the cemetery on Friday night, and a morning of tours and enjoying the garden on Sunday morning. It promises to be a fun and informative, and I hope that some of you decide to make a trip to join us.

The event is co-sponsored by the HRF, the Heritage Roses Group, the Old City Cemetery Committee, and the city of Sacramento.

Info is under the "events" tab on our webpage. There's also a link to purchase tickets. There's an early bird special, which is in effect until Aug 10.

Anita
