Using Water Hyacinth In Place of Seaweed?

I will mulch heavily with water hyacinth this year. And, I'd like to make a "seaweed" tea with hyacinth in place of seaweed. Simply because I have access to tons of free hyacinth and, no access to seaweed.

I know that seaweed is chock-full of nutrients from the ocean. However, water hyacinth, I've read is a pretty good source of nutrients also. Does it make those nutrients readily available to the plants when used in "tea" form?

My plan is to use the hyacinth tea like I would compost tea or fish hydrolysate. Is there any reason I shouldn't use this as a foliarly (sp?) applied tea?
