New garden (your thoughts please)

It is time to start my new garden at my new home.

Here is the plan. Please chime in and offer advice..

1) Cap existing high pressure irrigation. Plan is to run low pressure drip to entire garden next spring. This year I will hand water or set up temporary irrigation.

2) Lay out my 40X50 garden into 16 4x8 raised beds.

3) Construct beds w/ 2X8X8 Pressure treated/ borate treated yellow pine. (The last chemicals that will be used..)

4) Fill raised beds w/ free mushroom compost. Bottom of beds will be lined w/ my used moving boxes (what do you all do about the tape on boxes?)

5) In between the beds I plan on laying carpet (I have scraps from my job) and covering with tree clippings from a local tree service.

6) Wait three months and plant!!

Hopefully I have most of the essentials covered. Only the edging of the whole garden plot remains open. What would be reasonable and appealing as an edging material?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and inputs.
