I'm right there with you in backsplash #$%&!!! Anyway, I like the clear iridescent the best. I like how it "neutralizes" the floor and matches the glass on the other doors. I am a lover of all things dark, but i don't like it with the floor. I also don't like the orange glass tiles because I just think it would make the floor more noticeable.

I like the orange-ish looking glass with your floors and the black(last one on bottom, end). I also like the beachy iridescent glass with the white and glass cabs and the Carib. Hope that helps.

I'm with malhgold on the clear iridescent tiles and why. I do like the pewter blend, but I think the clear iridescent tiles will tie into the glass you have in the pocket door, and with paint colors of the room. I also prefer the stick tiles with your cabinet hardware (more streamline).

I like the one on the far right, first row. Very St. John looking to me. Has a little color variation. It's agonizing isn't it?? Pick something with a little pop!

Having just asked the forum for a vote on my backsplash, my main comment is - take our comments for what they're worth and then go do what your heart says is right, LOL.

I really think your orange tile floors are awesome. I don't know what you think, but I'd love to see you put some of those orange glass tiles into your white pattern. I think you can use the original stick blend with a stripe or some spots of orange, or you can go with a square white mosaic blend like you showed in the picture with some random orange pieces.

Celebrate the floor!

When I think back to our vacations in the Caribbean I'm visualizing the amazing colors in the sunsets and the beautiful blues of the water. Like the sample on the far right, first row but also like the sample that ties in with the glass in the doors-the clear.

Poppy09 - we to love the "stick" tile as well but they are almost double the price of the 1"x1" so not sure our budget will allow but then again it is such a small kitchen we might just bite the bullet and go for it :)

I am watching all of the backsplash choices, since I have not done mine yet either. I love the #4 on your blog...the clear blend. Beautiful. I think it softly compliments the floor. Orange and blue are complimentary colors and one being strong and the other light just seems to balance. Also, I would not bring the color from the floor up to the backsplash as it seemed too matchy-matchy of a strong color. Not a fan of the dark tile either as it seemed to just extend the countertop up or something. Well, that is my two cents. Good luck!

I love the clear stick blend (your original choice!) the best. For many reason... just like it best!

I read your blog this morning and have been thinking about your dilemma. I thought about it in the shower- I have the Oceanside Sandstone #005 Iridescent in my bathroom which similar to the one you called "funky". I really love that tile but it may be too much in your kitchen (although I think it would compliment your floor quite well).

My favorite for your kitchen is the Veil. The photo on your blog does not do it justice. It's very beautiful, timeless and definitely does not look harlequin. To me harlequin would be black and white diamond shaped tiles. I think the Veil would allow you to accent your kitchen with any colors you liked and paint the walls whatever you wanted. It would not limit you like colored tiles could. It will not call more attention to your floor and will look good with it.

When I read your whole blog, what I hear you saying is that you don't want a dark backsplash - you want a light tropical feel. From the post, it seems that the colors on the far right in the first picture (a pre made mix) has a lot of the colors you want. However, it also has the funky sand color. Could you try cutting out the sand tile and replacing it with an orange or white one? I know this adds work, but it might get you a good compromise.

My vote is for the sticks!
They remind me of water and white waves, even though they are not wavy but linear.
I just love how restful they look.

So, are the sticks Muse in the Prose pattern? Are they really double the Tessera? Yikes. I ask because I am considering the same Clear or Sandstone tiles and I had hoped to go with the Muse line. Haven't priced it out yet. double....sigh...size=1>

I am actually thinking of combining the Sandstone and the Clear, kind of like the Beach Blonde. I had that BB mix in my last kitchen and I don't think I want the pale blue of the Moonstone this time.

The sample I have of Sandstone right now throws a lot of orange actually. I feel like that would bring your floor into the mix in a nice way.

I do think you should scrap the black.

Where are you getting these samples from, btw? Mainland? Is there a source out there? Just asking because I "lived" in the Bahamas for a while and it's slim pickin's. :-)

Yes they are Muse Prose :) They are not quite double probably one and a half times the price (maybe a bit more I forget now) partly due to the fact that the Muse Prose sheet size is 8 1/2" x 12" vs the standard 12" x 12" sheets of the other patterns so when you price it out it is quite a bit more per square foot.

I am getting my small samples from the mainland - either Kansas City when I am there or from the company I will be ordering from in Miami and that is who I will be placing the final order from and that is who I bought my sample custom sheets from.
