Pine Humus in Vegetable Garden

We cleared out several large trees (mostly pine, and a few fir) to put in our home. The soil where the trees came from has several inches of light decomposed pine needles, I'd call it forest humus. I'm hoping to get some advice in regard to using this as organic matter in the vegetable garden. Is there any reason it would not be a good idea to mix it in with my very sandy soil to try to get a better soil mix?

I'm also thinking about using either pine straw or partially decomposed pine wood chips as mulch this year in the vegetable garden.

The pine products are free and readily available to me, so I love the idea of using them, however, lacking experience, I'm a little hesitant. I'm looking forward to hearing some words of experience!
