I previously posted a question regarding my kohler engine. The engine was surging. Long story short rebuilt carb, new air filter, new coil, changed oil, changed gas, changed fuel filter none of this helped. Finally checked the flywheel and the key was sheared just enough to throw it out of time. So I thought. The mower ran fine for about 20 mins. Now it is surging just a little still but will run fine with the blades engaged until you lower the deck and start cutting then it bogs down and the mower dies. One more question as well there are 2 screws on the carb. a top one for idle and the bottom one for fuel mixture I think? My question is when the motor is idle you can turn the screw on the bottom all the way in and the motor will die but if it is in high rpm you can turn the bottom screw all the way in and the motor continues to run. The motor is also very hard to start having to choke several times before it will start backfiring several times and then it will finally run. HELP

Considering everything else you have done, are you 100% certain you have the genuine Kohler fuel filter and the correct Kohler filter for your application? The surging might not be a real indicator when the engine is running unloaded, that's likely just the governor "hunting". But the bogging and dying when the blade load is applied sorta points toward insufficient fuel volume. On Kohlers this often is caused by the use of an aftermarket filter that will not flow the volume of a Kohler Branded filter.

It is possible since it ran well for the 20 minutes that the key sheared again. That can occur on these if the flywheel was not tightened down as securely as it should or the taper not clean (don't lube). Was the fuel line flushed or replaced or float valve replaced in the carb? On these the lower screw on the side would be a high speed mixture screw.

Along with the other guidance given, you should replace the fuel line if it is original when you clean the carb. The other basics would be to ensure the vent in the fuel cap is open. Generally, you need good flow down to the carb. Yours has no fuel pump- it relies on gravity. Ignition coils on these do fail, and some times the cd in the coil that times the spark will tell it to fire at the wrong time and still have good spark. Normally starts as a hot stall though. To confirm, spray carb cleaner down the airhorn as you crank it- like a starting fluid. If it runs on that, then you're back to the fuel system. The battery ground cable on yours I think is attached to an engine mounting bolt on the RH side. I've had a couple give me fits as they didn't have a good ground at the frame anymore. If yours has a fuel solenoid below the carb, it needs- I think 10+ volts while cranking and a good ground to function. these plungers also get sticky from sitting.

1. I think the list of stuff will all work together. 2. Since you're getting a bronze faucet, does ICE make a bronze extended flange? Or Rohl? 3. The flange that comes with the GD will be a standard flange in stainless (most likely) and not usable. It won't fit the sink. The stopper will be reusable but also in stainless or just plain black. 4. since the diameters of the flange/stopper are standard, you can buy different ones from ICE. 5. A stopper for a continuous feed is so you can keep water in the sink. It's basically a round disk with a grab knob on the shiny side. A stopper for a Batch feed also has the T-shaped bit on the bottom that activates the GD when the stopper is inserted in the correct position. I'm going to guess that a '2-position' stopper is for a batch feed model.

I see your point, marcolo. I've been reading the recent thread about the calm white finished kitchen, and it reminds me that I've got a really good look going on already. So this is the option you like, assuming the range doesn't get moved: It would be so easy to do, and I'm thinking I could improve the function of the pantry alcove even by switching the cleanup sink and the dishwasher, so the DW is in the corner, and the entry doorway leads you right to the sink. I'll have to check how that would work with a dishwasher door. lavender, I agree that one could dress up the over-sink area #wherever it ends up# with vintage detailing. Any sink placement that is not on the peninsula involves looking right at a wall, but I do think there are ways to make that more attractive. And yes, I've not let go of your favorite fridge/sink swap plan. I'm glad you think it would be good to keep the partition walls up; the fridge+ pantry would fit perfectly in the right side of the alcove, and it does preserve that vintage pantry feel if we keep the partition. The other partition, on the left, is actually a bigger problem because that wall uses more space to allow for the recessed fridge. There's a lot of wasted space in that small area, so it would be a good wall to remove, or adjust in some way, if we can do it without destroying the architectural balance. We actually are getting an offer on our house today #!!!!# so I can get serious about taking the next steps with the overall remodel plan, which will help us know about the plumbing options, and the bigger issue of moving the range #still don't think I can talk DH into that one, but it's still in the mix.#

Agree the skirted toilets are much easier to clean, as are the one-piece toilets. I got a one-piece (but not skirted) and LOVE it. I'm just going to weigh in here and tell you that I really dislike the rain shower shower heads. As a dog sitter, I often stay in other people's houses, and a few times I've used these rain shower heads and I despise them. I don't like the straight-down/overhead style, where water is just being dumped on you; dislike the lack of an angle so that you can, say, wet just your hair for rinsing, etc. The rain-shower heads either dump water indiscriminately all over you, or if you want to, say, just wet your hair, you have to step out of the way of the water and contort yourself to get just your head wet. I really, really, really dislike them. For the faults, I like the Grohe Bauloop, and I think the first one for the tub. Also really dislike faucets with the on/off handle on one side. Really makes them difficult to use, so if you have something in your right hand, you have to reach over with your left to turn it on or off. Not a practical design, IMO.

No the fuel filter is one from a local shop, i will order a kohler filter. The fuel line was replaced and I will inspect the flywheel again. Thanks keep them coming. This kohler is gonna run. What about starting? Why is it so hard to start?

OK guys. Here's the rest of the story.
New Coil check
New Plug check
New Fuel Filter (KOHLER) check
New Fuel line
New Fuel Shut off
Rebuild kit for carb check
New Gas Tank check
Still running bad (SUCKS)
Tape around the bare spot on the kill wire check
Great running mower (AFTER TAPING THE BARE SPOT) priceless
actually not priceless it cost $118.74 to figure out the kill wire had a bare spot.
Great knowledge for helping out others = priceless
