I helped a local 4th grade teacher with a project this week. We did Mission 3 of the Jason Project and learned about the decline of the Chesapeake Bay. In our conversations yesterday, the kids wanted to know what could be used to help plants & not hurt the watershed. We talked about composting and they were enthralled!

Today, we started class with finished and almost finished compost from my yard. The kids were really excited and made all kinds of comparisons between these two samples and the typical yard soil (red clay) that we looked at yesterday.

The result? The students are going to make PSAs about how the community can help keep the watershed healthy. Our goal is to finish in time for Earth Day.

I'll post the PSA link once we finish. Please keep your fingers crossed that we are able to wrap up by Earth Day!
