Were you a veggie hater as a kid, or if you still are?

I never understand this "kids hate vegetables" thing. When I was a kid I loved vegetables, still do. My siblings didn't love veggies but they didn't hate them either.

I never knew any kids who hated veggies until I married my husband who was a true veggie hater, and still is. When I discovered his secret (he pretended to like vegetables when we're dating) Sigh... I know... anyway, when I discovered his relationship with vegetables I told myself that I would put my best efforts forward to teach my kids to love vegetables.

When our son was old enough to eat solid, I pureed fruit and vegetables as supplements. He loved everything. In fact, he always loved anything that was green until about 4 years ago when he discovered his dad wouldn't eat anything green but frozen peas. Two years ago, he heard his step brother saying that he didn't eat mushrooms. Guess what? Mushroom went off his list as well!

I thought it was a phase and that he would grow out of it. It has been four years and his "would eat" list gets shorter and shorter, and his "no touch" list gets longer and longer. Now he will only eat a few mouthfuls of carrot if I serve dips with it.

I hope little man will start eating vegetables again as he gets older. But every time I look at my husband who is 50 something and still a veggie hater. I begin to fear for my little guy.

So were you a veggie hater as a kid or if you still are? If you used to hate veggies and now like them, what changed you?
