5/16 Dia is what my Poulan S25 with Sears' Label list in the specs. If you sharpen often or pay to have bad chains sharpened vs just touching them up, you need to try the Dremel type sharpener. A fellow impressed me in the woods with a Sears 12V off his truck in 1984. I purchased the 110V and have not used a file or had a chain sharpened since. I have seen them at Northern tools, Home Depot,Sears and all look similar 12V, 110V or cordless (which I doubt will fit my budget for my need). Thanks - sounds good - I didn't know there was light bar oil. In the interim, I remembered that I stopped filling the oil tank and just used a spray oil on the chain years ago for some reason. I guess I'll pick up some light bar oil tomorrow since I need some for the gas saw anyway. After the recent Hurricane, I used the gas saw more in two days than I had in my whole prior life. I realized that the electric is very stealthy and great for small jobs. The neighbors (and I do it too) come out to see what's going down (joke) when they hear a gas saw fire up. The electric just sounds like some kind of power tool. :)

Well, actually Edna, we don't really like elms or hackberry trees. They drop seeds like crazy and attract tent caterpillars and inch worm caterpillars that defoliate EVERYTHING. They do turn into pretty little butterflies, but they totally strip the leaves and blossoms off my apples trees, sand plums, and roses, too. (grrr) They both tend to break off badly in the winter ice storms here in Oklahoma. Hackberry wood is the best firewood though. Burns hot, clean and long and leaves very little ash behind. Doesn't make me allergic like some firewoods. One of the benefits of living on land wooded with elms is that elms provide one of the best growing beds for those yummy spring gems - wild Morel mushrooms. There aren't many of them, but they are big and very delicious and grow here every spring, lucky us! (if I can beat the wildlife to them that is). I intend to plant dwarf fruit trees - apricots, peaches, and apples. I will sow cosmos and larkspurs beneath them to attract more pollinators and I think that will be very pretty - like a Monet painting! I also have five Sugar Maples I grew from seeds that are ready to set out. They grow relatively fast. They are already pretty little things, about 2-1/2 feet tall. Their new spring leaves are a vibrant wine red colour that glow in the afternoon sunshine. FlowerLady, We lost our big beautiful Mimosa trees two years ago due to beetles. I tried everything I could think of to get rid of them. I loved those trees - grew them from seeds. Their dappled shade was perfect, their leaves like Jacqueranda trees, and their fluffy pink flowers bloomed from spring to the mid-summer. Their heavenly fragrance would fill the yard. I dried the blooms and used them in my "dream pillows" mix. I want to plant another one, but am leery. sweetannie4u

Over time the ends of Canary will loosen and you will be able to pull them off. I like the look where the butt end of the most recent fronds is somewhat longer, the next oldest rather tight, then most the palm clean when the ends get to where the pull off with just a little effort.
