Bought a Rechargeable String Trimmer (24V)

I was a bit skeptical when I bought the WeedEater 24V rechargeable trimmer, but it has proven to be a decent tool. I purchased it from WalMart for $80. It was charged from the box, so it did not require much charge time for the first charging.

My lawn is about 1/3 acre and the battery has proven more than sufficient. It takes me about 20 minutes to edge and trim. It is obviously not as powerful as a gas model, but it certainly gets the job done. I was surprised at how nicely this thing edged my sidewalk & driveway.

It comes with a wall mountable recharging base and an internal lead acid battery. Although there are more advanced rechargeable batteries on the market, the lead acid batteries have little (if no) memory effect and are tried and trued. Black & Decker has a rechargeable 18V model with an external battery (similar to a cordless drill). I imagine this is convenient for larger yards.

I recommend this tool for yards up to 1/2 acre in size.
