Here's one from recycled windows,wood,paint,fiberpanels and sheathing. Did have to buy a new box of wood screws to put it together tho.(12'x12'x8')

I was going to include a larger area for solar gain but being in the middle of Kansas here we have to put up with high winds and hail. The link at the bottom has a lot of Plans& Materials list for anyone wanting to build/design their own. (a place to start at least)

Here is my hm greenhouse that started as a sunshade that I wrapped in plastic. After it blew away we reinforced it with wood 2x2's. Then 2x4's replaced the metal legs. After this pic. I put on some of that clear plastic roofing and a wood door. I would re wrap the torn plastic every couple of years. Now it is being retired.

There are some great pictures here. You all are very inspiring. It just goes to show that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. We recently built a 16 x 24 greenhouse out of mostly used materials. We did however buy the corner posts. My husband, who is a carpentar, made the rafters and other support poles out of used material. I spent several days "salvaging" used job materials. I ordered my fans from ACF Greenhouse and my plastic from growersupply.com I was really surprised at how little we actually spent.

This is my greenhouse. It is 8x16 lean on the south side of my garage. We probably spent $300 on the initial design. When we first built it, we used poly film on 2x4 framing. Scrounged for used door and window. The second year, I put a second layer on the inside of the 2x4s, which improved insulation, but the film didn't last long.

This past fall, we re-covered with twin-wall polycarbonate and added a fan and thermostat. While we had it uncovered, I painted the framing, which improved the appearance greatly. {{gwi:293032}}

More details: Roof is corrugated fiberglass panels - it's okay, but is yellowing quite a bit. It's been a great experiment - I find keeping it cool is just as much a challenge as heating. Trying to heat it with electric baseboard heaters. There are four vents - two on south, one plus door on east; and window on west. I also have one vent into the garage. The 12" fan pulls the air across fairly well, but if I had to do it over, I'd go a size bigger with the fan. I use it only a couple of months (March-April) to finish perennials for now. Can't afford to heat it much longer than that.

I have the same fiberglass panels for roofing, they are quite a bit yellowed but don't seem to be cutting down the light too much. Going to try to recoat them with fiberglass resin,( from the auto parts store) once it warms up and see if that brings them back to "new" condition. I experimented a bit with electric heaters this winter and found the cheap ceramic heaters to have the most usable output and being the most economical to use, My opinion at least but thought I'd pass that on...

I don't think my greenhouse counts as a "low budget" one as I used new materials, mostly.

It is 24' by 14' and is built from pressure treated pine. The knee wall is 1/2 inch pressure treated ply and the north wall is solid and so is half of the north roof.the walls are 6ft high on a base of cement blocks.

The frame, including the plywood cost $700. I still have three 4ft by 8ft sheets of ply left over. They are my "benches" They would have been the covering for the other half of the north wall but I couldn't get them up there!.

It used to be covered in cheapo construction poly but last fall I bought proper poly. What you see is it covered in a double layer of Tuflight IV.

Notice the front, south side and the patched up poly. That is because I have not really decided how to cover the front yet. Those patches are scrap poly covering torn vinyl panels.

Total cost for a 24' by 14' using pressure treated and a double layer of 4 year greenhouse poly? Around $1000

Time taken to get this far? 4 years.

Other bthings to note, do you like the stucco effect on the front? Notice how the stucco sort of is pealed back on the left side?

The "stucco" is old carpet........

P.S http://www.stormlakeonline.com/user3316/Picture_0009.jpg tells you I should spend more time cleaning up the yard and painting the house than I do messing around with a greenhouse! :(
