My squash has turned brown on the tip of the leaves

Hi everyone I hope someone can help me fix a little problem I am having. Some of the tip of the leaves have started turning brown. I am growing the squash in a small pot. I don't believe watering is the problem because I only water the plant when I feel the soil dry when I put my finger an inch deep into the soil. I am using Miracle Grow Organic Choice as my soil. The plant is about 3 weeks old now. I am new to growing. This is my first time ever growing anything. I hope someone can help. Thank you.

Could you have had a bit of frost?

If not, suggest you might inquire at Vegetable Gardening - GardenWeb

Forgot to mention, it could also be sunburn.

That happens to me when I have a late cold spell. Doesn't even require frost because squash love warm weather. If its still getting into the low forties or has gotten there recently that could be your cause. Provided its just the tips it should continue to thrive if it doesn't get too cold and/or you bring it in at night.

Yep , well thats the price you pay for combining Vr.platynema variegata with Vr .gigantea seideliana (Nova)in the mix that makes the Kiwi series ,but they are prone to Ph fluctuations wich will cause it as well , and as 'Seideliana ' can be a tad specific about certain climatic conditions ,it does'nt help ,fertilizer is not much of a problem with foliage Vrieseas ,dry roots are a problem to them, and as all plants (specially hybrids ) are individuals you get the odd plants out of a given cross that does every thing wrong ,I got one out of the " Milky Way " cross that had all the potential of a lovely soft pink with green and white tips ,BUT it wont grow to any size and makes heaps of deformed pups and a few good ones ,Why ? there is nothing in the cross to do so ,but it occurs in plants and all animals ,nature is not perfect , Jack

Your tree is certainly being tortured by multiple causes. Avocados like high nitrogen food on a regular schedule. You actually have some fruit on your plant that does not have enough energy to grow leaves, remove the fruit. I would take the whole container and immerse it up to the rim in a tub of water, preferable water without a lot of Boron in it. Does your water source not make available a test report on the water they supply? After you remove the container from the soak and it drains the excess water, I would dissolve a table spoon of avocado labeled food such as that available from Lily Miller or if not available, Miracid or other citrus/avocado food per gallon of water. Hi: I am also having a problem with my squash plant..it is wilting in AM, then coming back to life but many leaves have become soft, brown on edges, and then die. I have been picking them off, stems and all. The stems are hollow...does this mean it is a vine borer? I am growing in dwc with general hydro nutrients....tomatoes doing same thing although not so bad....

seems like the wrong forum for this question but;
Could be several reasons, too cold, too hot, too many ferts, too little ferts, too much sun, not enough sun etc. If it is in a pot it will be a challenge. What type of squash and how old and how big and how many leaves?
It sounds like it needs ot go in the ground and just given a chance to grow. Sometimes you just need to give a plant time to grow.
