Hi demeter, I'm sorry I never saw this post till just today. But the advise everyone here has given you has been excellent. I don't think I could have added anything else. I just wanted to express my sympathies that your mango tree is not doing well. What was the coldest temps you left your tree outside? I've had some severe damages on a few of my mango trees(Planted inground) from the many nights of freezing temps that we've had recently. I'm hoping the trees will recover in Spring? Luckily, my 2 potted Mangoes are fine since I was able to move them to my garage. Best of luck with yours and I hope it recovers. I would certainly not give up on it till you're sure its beyond help.

Thanks for that. They are growing in direct sunlight for the most part. I water them every day. They are growing in small pots (4inch diameter) outdoors in potting mix. I tried feeding them some dynamic lifter to no avail. Diagnoses now for large splotches are sun-damage, inadequate water or fungal infection? Looking at the small little round black spots. There seems to be two categories: 1) Dry and can be brushed off. 2) Wet, and can be spread. Diagnosis for black spots now are insect related? Yes, looks like transplant shock. Even if you water a lot, the roots aren't established enough to bring the water to the leaves and they dry up. And they can't resist the sun, so they burn. I would simply remove the burned leaves. You could shade them a bit or even mist them to cool them off and prevent them from losing internal moisture. And lay off the MG. MG is great for annuals and tomatoes, but for roses, organic slow release fertilizers are better. Once the roses are established, you can give them MG once in awhile for a boost, as long as they have other food available.

Jennifer —-(Spraying with Neem Oil and or and other mixtures to eradicate the insects organically could still harm those beneficial insects. Some people will just let those pest stay on the tree because they dont want to harm them. Its a difficlt choice to make for some and you need to understand that some bad infestations that might get out of hand and could cause your trees to become weak and allow other diseses to slowly kill your tree. i always try and let Mother Nature work on the right balance of the pest verses the beneficial insets to keep everything in check.
