Is it blooming in a greenhouse?

Normally, I have it outside. Right now it's on my porch because I put it in a container last spring. It's got one lone bloom now (mauve/pink), but it was mauve/pink last spring also.

Probably has to do with the cooler temperatures in spring.

If I recall when I had Angel Face, it came to me in early spring, maybe late winter, from a greenhouse vendor, and it had a purplish-red throat which spread but dissipated into lavender. I think it is cool weather. If I recall, in my 100-degree July weather, it actually faded to a mouse color, but in the best of days it was a beauty. I shovelpruned mine as it was a slow repeater.

Purple roses vary widely in color with changes in the weather and light. Sometimes dark purple roses turn out magenta, sometimes mauve turn deep pink, and sometimes lavender turn out muddy pink. I think that making the soil more acidic should make the roses more purple than pink. Also keeping them out of the hot afternoon sun lets them keep their color longer... Purple roses are very variable...

As you get more experience growing roses, you will find many roses change color and bloom form. Temperatures, the amount of light, soil elements, fertilizers and just the time of year can be factors. I find these changes add to the excitement!

The yellow rose Molineux can look like a light yellow marigold or a very English gold/salmon blend.
