For me? (today!)

Heirloom. Love love love the color. Makes me look like I know what I'm doing!

Lamarque. Love the lemony white..and I have blooms at Christmas!

Mrs. B.R. Cant. Big ole buxom gal!

Eden.. Beauty! Cuts well and lasts forever!

Mrs. Dudley cross. Love the faded coloration. And grows anywhere!

Tomorrow may be different! You?

Whatever survived zone 5a winter, best scents, and likes my alkaline heavy clay soil: Radio Times (all green and bushy in early March), Christopher Marlow, Golden Celebration, Lady Emma Hamilton, Mary Magdalene.

Aaron: What are the qualities in Moonlight Romantica that you don't like? Thanks for any info. I thought about buying it for the vigor, too many rabbits here that devour short roses. Agree with you on weird long cane shooting out out a round bush, saw that with Cream Veranda in a pot for $5 at HomeDepot .. sniffed that and it was odd fruity for me. No regrets not buying, I am spoiled by Marie Pavie's perfect round bush. Carol: Thank you. My roses are healthy thanks to alkaline clay. In my last house with acidic black clay and FULL SUN, roses were blackspot-fest & wimpy. In my present house of alkaline black clay & very shady garden, leaves and blooms are pale but healthy. I find that at alkaline pH, roses bloom well if given alfalfa meal & sulfate of potash & SOLUBLE fertilizer. I put too much garden lime in the planting hole of band-size-Marie-Pavie, and leaves turn pale, but it pumped out 5 buds (fertilized with alfalfa meal & soluble fertilizer). In contrast, another bigger-gallon-Marie-Pavie planted MG-potting soil, fertilized with MG-soluble for roses refused to bloom for months even with dark-green leaves. The pot was too acidic with accumulated rain-water. My personal favorite...so far...is Velvet Ribbons. I also adore Desert Icicle for its 'attitude'...and Magic of Oz is very fine as well. Webster's Pink Wonder should show its promise here next year as last year it was adjusting, I think. I have seen it in a display garden and totally agree it is eye-stopping. There are so many wonderful ones...I've added quite a few through the years as they are just so entertaining. The only Schwarz I have (I think...lol) is Tuxedo Junction...which I bought after being wowed by it in a display garden. Schwarz daylilies are not easy to come by. I also like Gossard's Heavenly Angel Ice. And, don't forget Margo Reed and Jim Murphy's many contributions. Last year, Margo's Flight of Orchids put on such a show. After Awhile Crocodile was one of the last daylilies blooming here. Well, I'm sure I could go on and on...

Surprised no one has mentioned, but even in SoCal, I love my Warm Floors in the bathroom under the travertine - could be my favorite thing! During the winter, I wanted to lie down on my bathroom floor. Glad I held out for an outside spiral staircase to the upstairs deck, two-sided office desk, pot filler, upstairs laundry, pool bath, undercounter micro drawer, trash compactor (everyone tried to talk me out of that & said they were passe'), recycling bin, fixed & handheld shower (overhead shower was a bit of a waste...), doggie door hidden under kitchen desk - people think she's magic when she appears :), pull-out shelves for printers, etc in office & grommets for wires & got rid of most of the clutter, LOVE the light system & setting up scenes - esp. our 'night track' button that saves me turning on & off 6 banks of lights just to get down to the kitchen at night, my daughter's 'all-off' button that blinks until she turns all the lights off @ night Bain-Ultra air bath - no more gross jacuzzi jets shooting out gunk! Wish I had closet lights that come on when doors are opened, had organized the pantry lay-out a little better, figured out drawers/pull-outs for wrapping paper better, looked more closely at cabinet depths - can't fit a whole lot in, perhaps put an elevator in - was $10K in the beginning & just heard a woman is paying $70K to retrofit her house for one. I need the exercise now, but who knows what the future will hold... not a whole lot more than that though - we thought it out pretty throughly. STUPIDEST purchase ever - the Aquatics laundry air sink - basically a jacuzzi for my underwear that you can't even use soap in as it bubbles over & makes a mess. You can do a better job swishing your hand around in the sink a couple of times. Whatever possessed me to get this, I don't know... Almost Done!!

I'm very happy for you about work, but you still need to get to the doctor about those head aches.I know you are scared and I would be too, but you will not be any good to any one else if you do not take care of yourself. I know I sound like I'm preaching, but you really do need to take care of yourself. Quit worrying about work, they seem to be very pleased with you at work, and they don't won't you feeling this way either. Now tomorrow morning get on that phone and call the doctor. It may not be anything real serious, but do you want to go through the holidays, feeling this way and not knowing? Not too long ago my dh was having alot of problems and I was just as scared as he was. The not knowing is almost worse than what is wrong. When they finally figured out the problem, we didn't like the answer, (m.s.) but at least we know what we are dealing with now. Please, Please go.

Nymphs Egeria-I just LOVE this rose, the blooms are beautiful, fragrant, the form of the bush is lovely, and it's a Geshwind.
Edmond Proust-a Barbier rambler-probably the most beautiful rose I've ever seen.
Reine des Violettes-prolific, exceedIngly fragrant, beautiful, cooperative!
Prinz Hirzeprinzchen-my first Geschwind, hardy, beautiful, I love it.
Blush Hip- just love it, can't explain...just love it.

Yves Piaget - my 2nd all time fav
Oklahoma - blooms are plentiful and last forever on the bush - and the color is so deep and lovely (we are colder here so that may keep the darkness of the red from going lighter)

One of the first roses I ever bought was Abraham Darby (back in the 80's, I believe). Covered with blackspot, awkward, thorny canes, but the most beautiful flowers! It so reminded me of the old roses, I started studying them, and thus started my wonderful hobby of growing Antique Roses. The same day I also bought Tropicana, still have it to this day.

Also, just love G Nabbonand, Souv de le Malmaisan (sp), Duchesse de Brabant and my Cl Pinkie!

Hi Ogrose: What's DFW next to your planting zone means? I wonder what state you are in. Abraham Darby is so photogenic, but the fragrance doesn't agree with me. Too bad I can't plant the low-thorn ones you mentioned - won't survive in zone 5a.

Mme Gregoire Staechelin - one of my very first roses and still one of my all time favourites.
R.moyessi - the only red I had for years (remedied this lack with Scharlachglut and a couple of old red climbing hybrid teas)
R.Primula - the first wildling I ever bought and still one of the best despite having been trawled around the garden and allotment, even spending a couple of years in a shopping trolley. Has resisted all efforts at propagation so I hover nervously over it every time I have shunted it around - it may sulk for a season but always recovers.
Moonlight - my favourite Pemberton hybrid musk.
Leontine Gervaise - I love, love, love Leontine - the star and anchor of my rose 'fedge'.
