Comments (23)Some of my canes bend down from the weight of the flowers, but most are strong enough not to bend too far. Nothing has broken off so far. There is no where else to put all the canes, unless I start tying them to each other! I suspect this rose would rather be a freestanding, very dense bush. The laterals are just jutting out all over the place and are quite long, at least 3 feet. So far, this bush seems to bloom only on the tips, whether they are trained horizontally or not. I like the flower form and color a great deal (that's why it hasn't been removed....yet) - it's the bush itself I don't care for very much. It's very stiff and gawky. A very messy look. I'm thinking if I prune it back hard in order to look tidy, it won't bloom. Sandy...See MoreLooking for Pretty Jessica and Rosa Rosarium Uetersen in US..
Comments (18)Oh wow! You got some nice roses!!! Going to Sam's is always dangerous for me. This year I went to get a big bag of fertilizer (which is awesome btw) and came back with 4 roses. Were people picking strawberries yet? I've had my Quadra for a couple of years now. It was purchased as a band so it started out really small. My only complaint about this rose is that it does take some time to really get going. I believe I've heard the same thing on these forums as well. Someone posted a goregous pic of Quadra trained up an arbor on Help Me Find. I think you'll really like this one. You should keep Fantin Latour. Of course the fact that I've had it on my wish list for years has nothing to do with it... But really, you got 3 absolutely outstanding once bloomers and 3 repeat bloomers. And if you go back down there you risk bringing home more roses. But if you do go look for Dakota's Song. It's one of my absolute favorites out of many, many roses in my garden. So much so that I now have 3. Helloooooo gorgeous.... Dakota's Song Here is a link that might be useful: Quadra on HMF...See MoreRosarium Uetersen
Comments (12)Marlorena, I see no reason why this rose would not do well in your climate. Beware it is viciously thorny and unruly. Summershythm, for me this is primarily a Spring and Fall blooming rose. Does not seem to want to bloom much during our hot summers....See MoreCan someone tell me about Clematis mandschurica
Comments (8)I have only found a very few clematis here in my rural area that I wanted to buy - most are type twos which I like the least as a general rule. I have ordered from Joy Creek, Brushwood, Silvery Star Vinery, and Hummingbird Farm. They all send good-sized plants that have grown well in my garden. I have also bought clematis from Bluestone Perennials which are smaller, but well rooted and have grown well for me. They are a bit less expensive since smaller. All have been true to name, healthy plants and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from any of them again. They tend to have different selections from nursery to nursery....See MoreTerry Crawford
