One more question about Rosarium Uetersen ..
Comments (3)I believe it would detract from the often subtle beauty of buff beauty. The color of rosarium ueterson can vary from a bright raspberry pink to a flatter almost coral shade I'm familiar with it as an espaliered 7x7 beauty....See MoreRosarium Uetersen-own root or grafted onto multiflora?
Comments (9)Hi Phyl... Mine is an own-root which I got from Roses Unlimited. In zone 4, my experience with own-roots is that they will take a bit longer to develop to their potential. That is the big difference for us colder-zoners. RU didn't do much for the first couple of years here as far as climbing. It spent that time building up 'bulk' but now it is climbing up over the arch. This winter we had a severe ice storm and it broke a lot of its canes so it had to be pruned back to 2 feet in the spring. It is 6 feet tall and loaded up with blooms already, so much you can barely see the arch. I swear the blooms of this rose last longer than any rose I grow. They come in huge clusters and the blooms themselves are quite large so that we are talking about an enormous cluster of flowers. If you cut one cluster it will fill a large vase and last forever! They last a remarkably long time on the bush too. The color IS very loud, but I grow all colors and varieties of roses side by side and love the mixture of colors. RU is probably one of the first roses people notice when coming upon my garden....you can't miss it! I think you will enjoy it. The leaves are pretty too.... very glossy and healthy. Comments (3)As Ann says, it's possible to have an outbreak of downy mildew at a garden center in cool weather, when plants are crowded and sprinkled too much. But you say you don't see any dark spots or disease symptoms. If the plant started shedding within a week of planting, maybe it is just transplant shock. Also, for no apparent reason, RU can develop a scattering of leaves mottled yellow and green and then dropping....See MoreRosarium Uetersen
Comments (12)Marlorena, I see no reason why this rose would not do well in your climate. Beware it is viciously thorny and unruly. Summershythm, for me this is primarily a Spring and Fall blooming rose. Does not seem to want to bloom much during our hot summers....See Moremichaelg
