1st Year Care of Bands

I bought my first bands this fall - a Pretty Jessica Austin rose, a Grandmother's Hat and a Harlekin climbing rose. All were planted in peat pots then put in the ground in the fall. They're starting to grow leaves now. My question is whether I should leave them completely alone or pinch the new growth on the Pretty Jessica and Grandmother's Hat to encourage branching. Both of them are just a stick with leaves growing out the sides. The little Harlekin is tied to a stake and just started another basal break (yipee) which I'll tie up as soon as it gets long enough. I know the first few years of a climber you just let them grow, so that's what I'll do.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Debbie
