1st year 1st 'real rose 1st climbing rose

I got two Fourth of July roses this spring and planted them next to an arbor I built. From web info, I have deadheaded, not pruned, tied some of the canes to the arbor with stretchy material and woven others through the lattice. I intend to keep bending the canes back and forth to get horizontal growth. It is fall and I was not sure if I should do anything before winter and should I continue what I am doing for the years to come. I sprayed every couple of weeks with honor guard and fertilized once a month.

Pictures below show current status.

I would appreciate any advice. I am located north of Atlanta

Thank you.
