cant find any funny plumbing stories!

I have searched and searched and found nothing to use at the plumbing company Christmas party. Nothing at youtube.com or other search engines. Can anyone send us something funny to talk about at the plumbers Christmas party? This yearly event could be so much funnier if they werent so darned depressed about the economy and profit margin. Yes, it's true. Plumbers are not making the big bucks of yesteryear. Us plumbers need something to laugh about... like most of you. Please post them here and send them to me via link. Thanks to all, and to all a goodnight. Heard any good plmbers jokes lately?

LOL Karen. I wish I could help, Quirkpod, but plumbing problems aren't usually funny to the homeowner...not even in retrospect. I'm still blushing over the time I called plumber about a bad smell in guest bathroom which we couldn't account for as we ourselves seldom used it. As the plumber soon discovered, our elderly cat had relieved herself in corner...I had removed her litter pan from next door laundry room to wash and sun it and had failed to return it. Cat was just looking for a quiet place and she found it. DH and I had both failed to notice the source of the odor. The plumbers left grinning with their $35 service call check (no doubt would be more expensive these days). As stated, not funny ...josh

I WS some delphinium seeds from a trade. Had never seen delphinium seeds before so, figured that was it. Come spring and blooms, I knew they weren't delphinium seedlings, but a post of the pics, told me I had annual pink babies breath. No complaints, and sure didn't sow any pink babies breath, that is, any labeled seed packs of pink babies breath. Oh, the godetia seeds where next to the viola yesterday, today and tomorrow. Not a godetia seedling planted, but sure did germinate the viola in the container. Hm. maybe our WS seeds decide they like the container next to them better than the ones they are in. Oh yeah! My son loves to 'help' me move terrible clay soil via shovel into my nice containers to cover my turnips and cabbages with. He also like to be "gentle" to my plants by 'petting' them softly. or at least he thinks it's soft, as leaves are crushed and torn assunder. But I just wince and tell him what a good job he's doing and then distract him with something else so I can tend to my babies.

Such great stories! I don't have terribly funny experiences, but a cute one...Christmas Eve I tried to get the kids to bed, but had little luck. We kept telling them that Santa couldn't come till everyone was in bed, so they headed off to their rooms. I could hear the boys giggling in their room and then I heard DD2 (who was 6 at the time) loudly whisper to them "BE QUIET! I heard the reindeers on the roof!" And the boys gasped and shut up really fast. That morning as they were opening gifts she told us that she heard the reindeer on the roof and she saw the shadow of Santa's sleigh on her window shade. She was utterly serious! That same year at Easter she was up early and caught me as I was trying to hide eggs. Her eyes got really big when we heard a thump on the porch (the dog) and she whispered "mommy, do you think that's the Easter Bunny?" I whispered back yes, and she quickly ran back to bed to wait till her sister got up so it would be safe to come out. Only other story is the year my Aunt was getting married. The wedding was on December 26th and my Mom was hosting Christmas dinner. She'd had the 28 lb turkey sitting in the sink thawing (they did that back in the 70's!) and our dog got hold of it while everyone was at the rehearsal dinner. We got home to find a VERY sick dog and a half eaten half frozen turkey carcass. Dad had to find an emergency vet (on Christmas Eve) and mom luckily found a butcher open so she could find a ham instead. The dog survived, but my mom has never trusted another dog since.

Been a while since I checked this forum but this thread reminded me of how I saved a marriage. In 2002 friends of mine moved from Illinois to Florida. The home they built in FL was ready but the home in IL was still on the market. SO they moved anyway hoping the IL house would sell quicly. Most of their posessions were moved but some furniture was left in the old house for staging. Months later the house sold and the husband flew back to IL to pack up and move what was left. The small U-Haul he rented was not quite big enough so he weeded out what he thought was unimportant (basement furniture, odd pieces in the garage, etc.). The day after he put those items out on the curb, I went by on trash day doing my weekly "Pearl diving" (my kids call it garbage picking). I took home a square game table about 20" square with a swivel top. Needed to be refinshed and I was in the process of packing for a move to Florida so I put it in my basement. That table made it to Florida in 2003 and then moved back to IL in 2005 when I moved back. Never did get it refinished. Anyway - was talking to the guy who threw it out ( we all remained friends thru the years and emailed each other regularly) and he was telling me that he and his wife were having marital problems since their move from IL. He said she had never forgiven him for throwing out her Aunt's table - it was the only thing she had to remember her favorite Aunt. Well guess who had that table? I had the extreme pleasure of telling him that I had it and he could pick it up on his next visit back to IL. You would have thought I pulled him from a burning building - which I guess is what he felt like. Needless to say he made the trip to IL in record time and table is safely back in his home. Sometimes trades(wo)men are their own best source of humor. I know my mom has won prizes for her ability to tell funny trade stories in competitions at painter's conventions. This can also create a sense of comraderie and lubricate a party if it is executed well. Give a couple extroverts a "heads up" to have a good story ready and others will soon join in.

You could offer Duluth Trading Company's "Crack Spackle" to the plumber who told the best work story.

Home disasters!!! That made my day. My DH is handy and I don't think he has ever goofed up....But..

We had been hearing noises in the attic. He went up to see what was happening, thought it might be a rat or a squirrel. Turns out that it is a big raccoon. (how he got in, and how we got him out, is another story)

Anyway, he manages to get him out and goes up to see if he can find where he got in. He manages to step between two ceiling joists and falls through the ceiling in the living room....well almost through, he catches himself by hanging on the joists by his armpits.

there he is dangling, feet about four feet from the floor and he doesn't want to drop, afraid he will break an ankle or leg, and can't pull himself back up either.

I put the softest big chair we had underneath him and tell him to drop. Nope, doesn't want to ruin the chair either. We argue while his arm pits get sore. Finally, he drops. No harm done to the chair, but his armpits and the ceiling aren't too great.
