Indoor growers: Question about regular pest control

This is a question mainly for those growing indoors, under lights or with window light: Do you spray your plants on a regular basis for pests whether or not you actually see them? Or do you wait until you see something and then deal with it?

My reason for asking: Even though I plan on inspecting each plant every week, I don't and it always amazes me at how quickly some critters can get out of control during the winter months.

I was thinking of just getting into the routine of spraying everything every 10 days or so with something like Safers for the following reasons:

It's easy to do. I don't have to cart all the plants to another location.

It's non-toxic to me.

I have a big bottle of the concentrate, so I don't have to buy something else.

It was effective last winter on a mite problem (they can be rather difficult), so it might take care of any baby pests before they become established.

Your thoughts?

Kevin
