has anyone heard of 'black ray' energy

I have been reading a 1938 House and Garden magazine about homes of the future. It has an article about a source of heat-akin to radio waves, ultraviolet, gamma and x-rays- an electro-magnetic vibration. It heats objects but not the air A person could be outdoors in frigid weather and not even need a sweater. it can also be used with plants.

it was discovered in the 18th century by Herschell- engineers from leading labs were at work perfecting it. Sounds what is needed but would of course destroy oil and coal industries!!it works the way sun rays work, does not heat the atmosphere but the earth it strikes.

lots of other good inventons including a radio that prints out a newspaper.

Does anyone know an engineer who could give an opinion?
