That Pinkie's shape is gorgeous! Love your bed of Sombreuil, Marie Pavie, Duchess de Brabrant, too. so lovely!

Your garden is very pretty and your pics remind me of a beautiful Saturday morning, which is my favorite time of the week. I enjoyed this a lot! By the way, I love the name of the town you live in. It must be nice to live in a place called Summerville. :)

Thank you all very much! Jerome- Larmarque has always been very top favorite rose. Like Audrey said it has such nice clean blooms and the smell is a wonderful sweet citrus scent. I also just love the green apple color of the leaves.Very well behaved climber. Krista- Duchess de Brabant has grown very quickly for me. Always covered in blooms. Denise- Thank you for the complement...I too just love that birdfeeder, got it at our Flowertown Festival 2 years ago but I wish I spent more and got the larger birdhouse instead as now that vendor hasn't been there since...got to remember to go with your gut and just buy it when you see it. Audrey- I have Ducher too but I got lucky as she was sent by accident so they told me to keep her and I love her. Very clean, nice rounded shape, and a citrus scent similar to Lamarque. I love white roses but they are hard to get full bush shots as the white seems no matter the time of day is bright and it just doesn't show up very well. Here is mine... Thank you everyone for your sweet compliments. Plantmaven- The day it snowed was kind of strange, it was a fair amount above freezing with snow. The children loved it. Today on the other hand is perfect, 20c clear blue Sky and no bugs. My gardening heaven. Schoolhouse- Right now the cottage is being rented out to GI Joe and Polly Pocket but I will be sure to put your name on the waiting list. :c) Sweetannie- The neighbor who gave me the tiny irises told me that while she was on vacation she saw a house with a sea of these instead of grass. (I wish I had seen it) And the home owner gave her a clump of each colour when she stop to investigate. Such a treat! Do they multiply quickly for you? Ianna- I know you are right. But it was all the beautiful wild flowers that Mother Nature had plant here that inspired me to start gardening. And they are what keep me inspired (along with all of you of course). I love it when things pop up in unexpected places. For the most part, if they can find a home they are welcome to it. GGG- Yes they are pink and blue Forget-Me-Not (perennial) another one Mother Nature planted for me. I love them! Kay- Yes I am proud :0). I pour my heart and soul in to my family and my garden. And like anything in life, you get out, what you are willing to put in. CMK- I grew the English Daisies from seed. Actually they were the first thing I grew from seed. I just through them at the ground in early spring. And they have been coming back ever since. They bloom twelve months a year for me in my zone 5 garden. I am constantly brush the snow off of them to show people. They have done well and bloomed in every condition I have thrown at them, sun, shade, wet, dry it just doesn't seem to matter. If you are the type of gardener that likes everything in it's place you might not care for them though. They are a really good seeder. You would have to be pretty vigilant with deadheading if you did not want them to spread a bit. I would be more then happy to send you lots of seeds if you would like. A few more shots from today. Avedon, thanks for explaining about the naming of foxgloves. Your version makes more sense. Also I think we are all guilty of zone-pushing at least once. I have tried to grow roses that are only hardy down to zone 6 and regretted it because just to keep them alive I had to dig them up, tip them over and bury them in the ground like a corpse every winter, then resurrect them in the spring. Too much work and not worth it! Kay, the pretty pink rose in the last picture is an older of David Austins called Pretty Jessica...and she is indeed! mantis....the red rose you like is the same one you liked on my other thread, and one that is one of my most popular with visitors. It is just so RED that it cannot be ignored. It's the hardy Explorer rose 'Champlain' and is an excellent rose in all respects. The dark purple clematis on the arch is 'Perle d'Azur'. Last summer a mother robin made a nest in it and we watched the babies hatch and then fly away. Celeste

Thanks, Jo. It seems a spring fever has come upon me, and I spent almost the entire weekend browsing hosta catalogs and reading posts and doing some research about hostahostahosta. So....what else is new with the rest of the forum? Don keeps his garden so perfect, my first impulse is to ask him, "How many gardeners do you employ full time to keep it that nice?" Mine will never be so lovely. Somewhere I seem to remember pictures of the massive construction of curbed bed borders and paved pathways of this garden. THAT is total dedication, and also self-knowledge....Don knows his interest in hosta is a life long affair. I have to admire the garden on all points.

Your Ducher is beautiful -- can't wait for mine to grow. I'm so impatient! I don't know why I chose rose gardening as a hobby, as patience is not a virtue I possess.

Meghan, I have the feeling that you put a lot of thought into your plant choices and colors, and the result is lovely. There's nothing glaring or out place; it's all really harmonious and will only get better as the roses mature. Of course, there still seems to be quite a bit of lawn for you to dig up and plant more roses instead!

The Cl.Pinkie is also one of my favorites and I love how she has done in that corner. Very easy to train rose.

Juliet- Thank you for such a beautiful description. Yes, Summerville is a beautiful place to live. It is also called Flower Town as it if full of flowers all year and had loads of gorgeous old plantation houses. Just 20-30 min from historic Charleston. Just yesterday I went for a walk downtown and admired the courtyard gardens full of roses, lovely little flower boxes bursting with color and lots of other flowers. Must come and visit sometime!

Masha- Ducher was stunning this year. IN the pic of the driveway border its the one not blooming. She was the first to come into her spring flush.

Ingrid- Thank you, yes I do put a lot of thought into flower choices and combination. Cottage gardening is my style and I try to keep the eye flowing through the garden with repeating colors and heights. I do still have a lot of grass and I am working on it. I do have another large rose/perennial bed with several other roses and plants but they are not in the photos. I have the whole side yard planned out but due to the hard terrible clay soil I have started doing the lasagna bed method of laying down cardboard and layering like a compost pile. It worked fantastic last year! I love this method, saves my back, the plants I planted this spring have taken off in it. I'll show some pic's soon.
