I think my favorite photo is the one of the water garden and your cat, Lily. She's a wonderful garden accessory! I also love the photo of Eye of the Hurricane with that precious angel statue. Everything else looks gorgeous! You do a great job caring for your gardens!

Your shade gardens look so relaxing and I love your shasta daisies and foxgloves. :) (I have to say I'm always slightly disappointed that I've never seen a fox slipping its paw into one lol.

Stunning, stunning, stunning, stunning. A hundred times stunning. I love every single garden view you have shown. A truely magical garden. I don't know how you can keep up with all that work all by yourself. I only have a small property and it is as much as I can manage.

Great views and scenes again! Love that first one with red and light roses, the daylily with angel, Lily the cat by the pond with lilies! You have so many different plants! I also like that hosta and astilbe combination. All beautiful views!

You have a beautiful garden, love the woodland garden. I don't have much space for ferns & shade plants, just a couple of spots on the east side of the house, & it isn't a very "natural" setting.

Debra, it was funny how Lily was just sitting there staring at the waterlily. She's about 12 or 13 years old now and I named her Lily just when I was getting into growing asiatics and oriental lilies. I didn't know then that I would move on to
daylilies and waterlilies, but she is aptly named. She always seems to gravitate to my lilies.
CTC...you're so funny. I myself always wonder why foxglove
was given that name. When has anyone ever seen a fox wearing gloves? But they sure are pretty flowers and they re-seed like crazy.
Rita...I have enjoyed your pics of your lovely yard for some time and you have amazing gardens yourself. It is a LOT of work to maintain, and since I'm home taking care of Mom (she's 88 and has Alzheimers & a double hip replacement, and is legally blind), plus I babysit my 1 yr. old grandson, plus I have a teenager still at home....well, YOU know how hard it all is. But gardening is my therapy and so rewarding to me.

Val...Not very often do I ever sit in those chairs. It's funny because I have chairs set up in many spots in my yard but they rarely get used. Mostly they're perches for birds to poop on...LOL
Chris...those ferns kinda grew up among the hostas and I didn't have the heart to yank them out. Sometimes Mother

Jean...be careful what you wish for! LOL. I don't need much encouragement. I have so many photos to share that before long you will all be sick of me..haha.
Nat...Yes, I do it all except mowing the lawn. DH has that chore. I don't trust him in my gardens because he's like a bull in a china shop...LOL. More than once he has sheared
off blooms and branches when weed-whacking the lawn.
mantis...well I used to spray the roses for blackspot but now that I have so many roses I have neglected doing that.
What I do is cull out the disease-prone roses and replace them with better cultivars. The foliage on my roses looks great up until late August, and then it looks terrible.
Hence why I am taking photos now. I would be embarassed
to show the leaves then, especially after the japanese beetles have shredded and defoliated them.
ngraham...I have lots of shade on my property, courtesy of lots of huge trees. In fact, my backyard is mostly woods
so I utilize even the shady spots. Its refreshing to work
in the shade gardens and get out of the sun!

First, let me say your gardens are so incredible. I cannot imagine how you keep everything going. I'm sure everyone on the Forum is going to be thrilled when you post garden pictures. As to the fox gloves, I believe I heard that it really is supposed to mean "folks'gloves" and the reference would be to garden fairies wearing them. Anyway, I think of English gardens when I look at your pictures, and envy the fact you can grow so many plants that would never make it here in our warmer climate. Believe me, I have foolishly tried some of them, hoping against hope they would live--they didn't. So, thank you for allowing me to share you garden, and I don't even have to lift a finger. Somehow, it just doesn't seem fair that I can enjoy all the beauty without the work. Looking forward to many more lovely pictures. Thank you, Avedon

All Right! Eye candy! And what is so good, you can enjoy it over and over again and no dieting is necessary. I love your garden, Celeste. It would be very nice to sit in the chairs under your tree and just enjoy the beauty around you.

Avedon, thanks for explaining about the naming of foxgloves.
Your version makes more sense. Also I think we are all guilty of zone-pushing at least once. I have tried to grow roses that are only hardy down to zone 6 and regretted it because just to keep them alive I had to dig them up, tip them over and bury them in the ground like a corpse every winter, then resurrect them in the spring. Too much work and not worth it!

mantis....the red rose you like is the same one you liked on my other thread, and one that is one of my most popular with visitors. It is just so RED that it cannot be ignored. It's the hardy Explorer rose 'Champlain' and is an excellent rose in all respects. The dark purple clematis on the arch is 'Perle d'Azur'. Last summer a mother robin made a nest in it and we watched the babies hatch and then fly away.

I have tried to achieve this look in my garden, but not with your success. I also love your Perle d`Azur. Your gardens are lush and gorgeous and so is Lily.

Not trying to add to your chores but did you know you can pull excess pads off waterlilies when they hump up like that if you don't have time to divide? You can reduce pads down to six or seven and they'll still bloom if fertilized. :)

Your gardens are amazing truly eyecandy for the heart and soul. You certainly have your hands full it is good that you have your garden for your personal theraphy. I love the composition of your photos they look like you have experience as a professional phtographer....Betty
