"Twin Peaks" and "X-Files" the only television shows i planned my week around until i discovered "Lost" in its 2nd season.

I would like the old Steve Allen Show. IF,the characters were the same age as they were then. ( Now, I am talking about OLD, really old shows.)

We were talking about the "Car 51, Where Are You?" just the other day. We thought that there was no one like Toody and Muldune. I wonder if we would still think that type of humor was funny now as it was then.

You know, I sat here for a long time and just couldn't come up with any one in particular. Never was much of a television watcher. But, the DH is and I see reruns of old comedies as I whiz by the tube doing something else and occasionally will stop and sieze the moment.

Some of the comedy seems to stand the test of time and yes, I think it's as funny now as then.....some of it doesn't. Some of the old Carol Burnett episodes are just a priceless now as ever. She was/is a real comedienne and would do absolutely anything for a laugh and didn't care if it made her look ridiculous or not. She also had a wonderful collection of supporting actors who had the right chemistry to play off one another.

Mostly, I miss the old news shows. I am sorry, but BaBa WaWa I just don't get and never have. Talking heads drive me up the wall, as do "experts" who explain to you what is obvious ad infinitum. A good newsperson could condense everthing you needed to know, and speculation was not addressed.

Laugh in, The Smothers Brothers, The Red Skelton show, Carol Burnett and the original SNL.

I loved The Mary Tyler Moore Show - absolutely classic. Wonderful writing and acting. There's a writing term - "character integrity". The idea is the writer should never put words into the mouth of a character that simply don't belong there. It's vital for good writing and the MTM Show rarely varied from that rule. Neither did MASH. If you reflect on the classic comedy shows you'll see that's a common thread. The Dick Van Dyke Show - also brilliant. More recently, Frasier is a good example of that. As was Cheers.

Well, this would require some very long distance transmission, : ) but Louis Rukeyser will always be one of my most favorites. After that, the orrigional cast and storyline of Dark Shaddows, with goofy sets, and wiered music intact, and "The Onieden Line" which was probably on PBS.

Marda, Judging Amy still lives in reruns on cable. DH watches it all the time.

If I could bring something back, I think I'd want "St. Elsewhere," which had a great cast & was one of the first slice of life hospital shows.

I've been through all the Amy rerruns twice. LOL Tell himself he has wonderful taste..Law and Order and Judging Amy.

zeph...I always cracked up watching Louis because he looked so much like George Washington. What a wicked sense of humor he had. We always watched Wall Street Week.

M Woods, Wow, George Washington, (another hero of mine, and quite the financial wiz in his own right,) That will stick in my mind now. I cant imagine how much LR's family must miss him. He was the coolest smartest "old" guy Ive ever seen.

I can't think of any I would bring back, but I started to think of one that I absolutely loved as a kid and would come in from playing outside to watch. Anyone remember a one year wonder called "Cowboy in Africa"? I can still hum the theme song. It had the actor that played The Rifle Man. Chuck Conners? I have never been much of a TV watcher, but when the ds was a baby, who never seemed to sleep and the dh was on afternoons, I found myself too tired to read so I watched TV. I found the Scarecrow and Mrs. King very soothing. Saw it recently in reruns and thought oh my goodness how did I sit thru this?

I want a return of Fraggle Rock and New Loony Toons that are current humor but with the animation of the old ones.

MHMH was very funny - off the wall, but funny. I always wondered why I was so entertained by it. Now I know it was my low IQ :)
