Best grass variety for wet clay area

wlai

I'm in the Puget Sound area, Z8, which is supposedly great climate for turf. Except in my front yard, which tends to get quite wet particular in our winter rain. The soil is low fertility and acid, and thus gets alot of white clover. The perennial rye I sod'ed two years ago are thining out quite badly, and I want to rennovate.

Is there a variety of turf that is more suited to compacted/low aeration/wet clay soil, more so than others? I'm going to top dress with compost regularly, lime, and use Nitron to amend the soil, but want to suit the variety to the soil.

Thanks!
