It’s interesting that I don’t see and Huck, salal and bracken ferns considering this is a Northwest Garden put in an established woodland. I’m on a neighboring island and have been trying to tame some of my woods around the yard for 10 years and while I love the huck, salal and ferns, I battle with wild ground blackberries, bracken ferns, stinging nettles, holly and ivy... oh and let’s not forget the cursed scotch broom and Tanzy ragwort that seems to crop up the second I dig anywhere...I’m ready to give up... or actually my back is giving up after 40 years of extensive gardening

There is bracken fern in there. This is a low lying, constantly damp area. Native huckleberries (vaccinium ovatum) and salal (gaultheria shallon) do not typically like wet feet and were not naturalized here in the low lying portion shown. This area shown is a small snippet of the larger space which is predominantly untouched native plants with this border/seating added in the area that was stripped for the roof water infiltration system.
